Upgraded to Ultra High Performance Tires

A few weeks ago I put Continental DWS 06 Plus tires on my Carnival. I already had put them on my MDX with AWD and they had really upgraded the grip. Discount tire offered me $240 for the stock tires which had 7/32” left on them.

The van has noticeably better grip when doing turns at speed and accelerating. If my MDX went from 8/10 to 10/10 grip with the new tires, I’d say the Carnival went from a 5/10 to a 7/10.

I’d recommend the upgrade if someone has been considering it.

When to stop pursuing more $?

My wife and I live in a MCOL city, have very stable 9-5 jobs, two young kids, and a solid financial picture. We make ~$460k/year combined working in the insurance industry.

I have to travel for work and could get another promotion but it would involve even more work and travel (3-4 times/month) and would only bring a $30-40k total comp bump, which would push our total income to around $500k, which is more like a 6-7% increase after tax.

I am debating just career plateauing at this stage to have more time at home with my kids. Has anyone been in a similar position and decided to do the same? What level of household income is enough before you start to slow down?
