Bought a '26 Carnival Hybrid SX with Dark Package for our family of 3!

Hey everyone, just wanted to share our newest addition. I snagged a 2026 Kia Carnival Hybrid SX equipped with the Dark Edition package, and actually arranged to have it shipped down to Bayarea from Oregon just to get the exact spec I wanted and for right price. You can see it parked next to our other ride

We’re just a family of three, so we absolutely do not need a 7 or 8-seater. But we bought it purely for the incredible amount of space. My wife, our daughter and I get to completely stretch out in this thing. We love to overpack, and now we never have to worry about having enough room for road trips or eventually towing a lightweight camper like a Taxa Cricket.

Our other car is a 2024 Honda CR-V Hybrid Sport-L. It's also huge and a great daily driver, but nothing beats the Carnival when it comes to pure long-haul comfort. We thoroughly explored the Sienna and Odyssey before pulling the trigger, but they just felt super dated. The modern Kia features completely won us over. This subreddit is actually great marketing(Kia should pay lol) and make up my decision.

The Pros:

  • The turn camera is absolutely great and makes maneuvering this massive vehicle so much easier.
  • HDA2 is a fantastic feature for taking all the stress out of highway cruising.
  • Sliding doors and do not have worry if kid opening the door wide.

The Cons & Fixes:

  • Because the cabin is so huge with a ton of glass, I felt like it was quickly turning into an oven, but that is nothing a good window tinting film won't fix.

Deal Check - ‘26 Hybrid SX Ivory Silver

I’m located in Southern California. $53,652 OTD at the Kia financed 1.99 rate. I had another dealership tell me they couldn’t get close to this and walked away so I’m curious if this is that good of a deal down here

Middle row seat storage

If you’ve removed and stored one of the middle row seats, what did you store it in to protect it?
Our seat will likely end up in the garage and I want to try and avoid bugs and spiders taking up a home in the seat.

How do I unlock the damn driver's door

I use my phone for a key. When I pull on the handle, the mirrors come out and some lights flash, but the door stays locked. If I press the spot where a button would be, the mirrors go back in and the already locked doors lock again.

If I press the button on the slider, it opens and all the doors unlock.

How do I get into the damn car without opening the slider or pulling something out of my pocket?

2026 Hybrid EX Price

Looking at getting a 26 hybrid EX and dealer quotes this:

Msrp 45,865

Rebate 1,500

Savings 2,000

Sale Price 42,365

Service fee 992

Elec fee. 574

Gov fee 258

Taxes 2940

Total 47,130

This is the quote sheet they sent me, but updated it saying they can do 45,680 OTD which is an additional 1,500 off. I’ve seen almost either around this price if not slightly less. Contacted a few dealerships and this was the best price. Should I keep shopping around/keep chipping away at this price or is this what I should expect

How soon can I refinance?

Has anyone recently taken the $1,500 Kia Finance rebate on a Carnival and then refinanced?

Kia’s APR is much higher than what I can get elsewhere, so I’m planning to take the rebate and refinance ASAP.

How soon did you refinance? Did you have to wait 60/90 days or make a certain number of payments to avoid losing the $1,500 rebate?

Trying to figure out if the waiting period is actually a Kia requirement or just something the dealer wants.

To further complicate things I am lookin at a Carnival that's 3 hours from where I live l, so I've asked them to send you the terms and conditions of the financing but haven't heard back yet. So I'm just wondering if here has had a look at it recently

Thanks and excited to join the Carnibros!

Nearest dealership 1hr away

My wife and I are planning to get a new Carnival or Odyssey. Sienna is off our list due to 3 kids in car seats.

We do have a Toyota and Honda dealership in town, while the nearest Kia dealer is an hour away.

Would folks here feel comfortable with that or not so much?

We loved test driving the Carnival, but we’ll have 3 kids under 3 soon (twins on the way). We know we can service the car at a local mechanic, but nervous about issues that require going to or leaving the car at a dealer. With 3 young ones, is it possible we should just get an Odyssey with a dealer minutes from our house?

Or do people think it probably won’t be a big deal and we should just get a Carnival?

Thanks all.

Price check on 2027 Hybrid Prestige SX

I have a dealer offering just over $3,000 off MSRP (MSRP is ~$55.9k, so down to $52.9k). Is that a good deal or any thoughts? Still would include about $725 in tags and $800 processing charge. This does not include any finance incentives.

Backward facing 2nd row

In the U.S., this is not available, unlike everywhere else in the world. It was a feature that really got me excited 4 years ago. Alas, it was not meant to be. But I noticed the autonomous taxi service Zoox has a car that have passenger seats facing each other. How is this legal, and why couldn't it be for the Carnival? Is it because the Zoox has bi-directional driving, so both "ends" are technically the "front"?

2023 Kia Carnival Check Engine Light: P2BEC

Got a check engine light that appeared suddenly, disappeared after a week and then came back. Going to bring it into the dealer on Friday to see whats up, but I figure I might as well come here and see

Code: P2BEC, Fuel Control System "A" Too lean Bank 1

Only thing Ive noticed after the check engine light came on is that my mpg dropped from ~19 to the ~14 which is a pretty big dip.

Anyone else have this issue and have any resolutions?

EDIT1: Dealer said it was a leaky vaccuum. They fixed it and the light went away.

EDIT2: Light came back, same CEL. Went up the chain and they think it might be the fuel injectors... 61k miles (OFC its right outside of warranty)

Do you get your car serviced at the dealership?

Coming up to a year on our ‘26 SXP
Had a complimentary oil change at the dealership at 6 months.

I have a mechanic that works on my other car but only works on european vehicles. He doesnt want to service on my carnival. 😭

Given that its a hybrid, I dont know if I could take it anywhere near home.

Do you get your car serviced at the dealership and pay a bit more money?

Or do you take it to the local indi shop?

Regretting my purchase

Bought a new Carnival back in May and was doing well. Took a trip from FL to NC over July 4th and on the trip got a check engine light. Ended up being the Cam position sensor. Went to the dealer and got it fixed. Not even a few weeks later the dreaded check engine light turned back on. Took it back to the dealer and now the timing belt slipped a tooth. Waiting on parts and hopefully will be fixed. About 5k miles on the car and two issues already. Has anyone else had similar issues? I'm just worried about the longevity of the car if I'm only 5k miles into it. I had a Pacifica which lasted 8 years, 130k miles and eventually died on me.

Extended Warranty and maintenance package

Is the extended warranty on electronics and 10 service maintenance package worth $2.6K USD worth it for a SXP hybrid?
