50cc in Melbourne CBD

Bit of an odd request, but we are currently a 1 car household and I live in Richmond, Melbourne.

I have my full motorbike license but havn't ridden in years and would like to just get something fun and cheap for getting around to the shops and work. I work in the CBD and the furthest I'd travel on it is Malvern and St Kilda.

The 50cc's appeal as they have stupidly cheap rego, but just wondering if it'd be a dumb idea to ride a 50cc and I'd be better off coughing up the extra and getting a 125cc.

Any recomendations for 50cc? Was looking 5-10 year old Vespa Primavera.

Engine capacity Metropolitan area (high risk)
Up to 60cc $171.74
61cc to 125cc $472.04
126cc to 500cc $602.94

50cc Road Bike Australia

Might be a bit of an odd question, but here in Australia I can get cheap registration for anything under 60cc, $166 vs $458 a year.

I'm ultimately looking for something fun I could potentially put a big bore kit on to get going to reasonable speeds while still paying the cheap rego. I'm aware of the Aprilia RS 50, but have been unable to find anything on local marketplaces.

Just wondering if anyone is aware of something I can buy new, or have a better chance at finding second hand. Otherwise I'll probably just end up with a Vespa Primavera.

I have a full motorbike license, just reconcilling down to a 1 car and a small bike household to save on yearly registration costs.

Thanks!!!
