Mystery illness no one can figure out…

Hi vets! 👋🏻

My old foster dog has been suffering form an unknown illness over a week now. Bills are stacking up and even with a go fund me running we’re in the thousands trying to save him from some mystery illness.

Our vets are amazing. And have tried everything they could think of to help him. He’s been there around the clock now and I trust them fully. But I’ve asked for his full file to post here and other places to try and get more eyes on his case to see if we’re all missing something.

He originally went into the vet a bit over a week ago cause myself and his current owner noticed him acting off. Tail low. Lower energy. Quiet. Kinda lethargic. He’s also always been a big drinker but didn’t seem to be drinking much the day prior. After monitoring overnight it was decided to get him checked out.

We’ve done blood tests, looked for cancers, checked for tick related illnesses, and more. Everything comes up negative. On the most recent scans his spleen may have thrown a clot causing some damage which may or may not result in it needing removed. And swollen thyroid glands which may need removed. A calcium test was sent off almost a week ago now and we’re waiting results for that as his calcium levels are high especially when he’s not on fluids. He’s also receiving/received a diuretic.

(FYI I’m trying to remember all the details since he’s not actively in my care anymore and this is all based on what his current owner has updated me on. She knows I’m posting here and I have hers and the vets full blessing to do so)

Dogs info:

Koa 4 1/2 years old (assumed since he was caught as a stray in 2023) Active lifestyle, goes to daycare. Occasional swimming/hiking. But mostly daycare where he’s mixed between play and office dog. UTD on vaccines. Neutered.

Any info/help would be appreciated as we’re worried he’s running out of time and no one can give us a solid answer as to what it afflicting him. 🥲

UPDATE: the calcium test came back normal. Everyone is now at a loss on what the cause could be and we’re now close to 10k in vet care.
