Pretty sure everyone thinks they walk at the correct speed and everyone else is doing it wrong
reddit.comA few years ago I accidentally became the ice guy at work
One of my first days there I went to get some water and the ice machine was completely empty so I filled it up because... I wanted ice lol. The next day someone walked by and said "hey thanks for filling the ice yesterday." I just said "yeah no problem" even though I was kinda confused how they knew it was me. After that whenever I noticed it getting low I'd fill it again. Took like 2 minutes so I never really thought about it. A few weeks later people started acting like it was actually my job. If the machine was empty someone would say "guess the ice guy is off today." One guy even asked me if we were running low on ice for the afternoon and I just answered him like I actually knew. Then I took a week off for vacation. When I came back there was a sticky note on the machine that just said "Welcome back." I honestly don't think anyone was joking. I never corrected anybody because it just kept getting funnier. I left that job a couple years ago and every now and then I wonder if someone else accidentally became the new ice guy.
