Maysam AlWard AlTaifi - Ceylani/Sumbawa

Maysam AlWard AlTaifi - Ceylani/Sumbawa

I wanted to give this a more descriptive name than what it actually is called “Luxury everyday use oud”.

It is a blend of Ceylani Adam AAA and Sumbawa AAA ouds.

The scent is awesomely addictive with notes of nitro diesel, cedar wood, piercing jungle freshness, bananas and apples flambé, and maple syrup. This is one of the best ouds I have come across. It’s light and airy and not overpowering. Again, I emphasize that gasoline and fuel scent reminiscent of filling up at a gas station but picture it being the forest or jungle and not an urban environment. Absolutely beautiful oud.

Oudique - Gensei

I really lovely patchouli with notes of cola, wood 🪵,caramel, and burnt sugar. I’m getting aircraft aisle hints too. Smells like vacation. Smells kind of like Captain Morgan’s Spiced Rum 🍹. Really beautiful

Majid Iterji - Gulf War Oud (1991 vintage)

Wow! This stuff is very thick and dense!. It’s not everyday you get to have a 35 year old Oud.  Right away I get many notes. Among them: freshly baked bread 🍞 (which I would say is yeasty), dried dark berries, raisins, ginger 🫚, raspberry and blueberry jam, and orange peel. It’s very leathery as well. This is a great Oud. I really love this. It has aged well.

Sokkat AlTeeb - Private Burmese

It opens with a sharp woody resinous note. Which is then followed by wild berries and sweet dried fruit like apricot. The middle holds a deep leathery and honey nuance. The base is really balsamic and holds hints of incense and smokiness. A very beautiful oud.

The Oud Lab - Lanka Kemuri

It opens with a piercing wood polish scent that’s accentuated by the scent of maraschino cherries. I’m getting vanilla with whipped cream, blueberries, and blackberries. It’s definitely more gourmand this time around. It has kinamic notes that bolt through the roof. Very clean and shiny object sort of Oud. It has the scent of organic candy. Very pleasing and amazing Oud.

Sokkat AlTeeb - Ceylon Jewel

This is my 2nd wear and I can say it’s a much better experience. I know why. I couldn’t indentify some new scents coming off this oud.

I’m getting notes of cocoa, coffee grounds ☕️ , cinnamon, star anise, lush jungle tree 🌴 and mud. It smells bitter-sweet like chocolate with 90% cocoa. It dark brown, rich, and luxurious. I would expect nothing less from ST. A very beautifully well-rounded oud.

I wanted to follow up Malay Candan with a powerful blend before bed.

It opens with the warm sensualness of the animalic musk. Very earthy and rich scent. Then the Roman chamomile and tuberose provide a beautiful floral and slight herbaceous nuance. The pink lotus provides a powdery spiciness. The Jasmine sambac does some gentle yet powerful floral notes in the background. It’s such a well-rounded and amazing blend.

KYMYA - Malay Candan

One of the cleanest ouds I’ve come across. Notes of cherry, cognac, polished red wooden antique grand library chairs. Medium-bodied, yet rich and silky with hints of red wine, dark berries, clean chopped green tree wood. There’s a slight vegetative chlorophyll nuance as well in the background. Simply one the best ouds I have ever had with great performance in projection and sillage.

Oudique - Malay OG

Absolutely delicious notes coming off of this. Notes of pear 🍐, melon 🍈, watermelon 🍉, and banana 🍌. It has a sparkling facet to it. Feels fizzy and comforting. Green grassy hints also punctuate the fruity notes. It’s a bit mentholic as well with a cooling sensation. Perfect for the summer.

Sokkat AlTeeb - Koh Kong Atiq

The first time I tried it, it didn’t sit well with me for some reason (the same thing happened for Ceylon Jewel). Now, I’m loving it. As I’m preparing a new blend it called for an aged Cambodi, so I reached for this. Took a swipe, inserted the pipette to put 1g in my blend. There was some left on it so I squeezed what little was inside and applied accordingly.

It behaves like a blunt clean Hindi - something which is perplexing as I never get Hindi notes from a Cambodi. But the more the wear goes on the more beautiful it gets. It’s smoky-incensy, notes of wood 🪵 , slight peanutty hints, and dried dark fruits. Deep, rich, silky, and regal. It has this dryness about it too that makes it luxurious to wear. The evolution is very beautiful.

Fuse Kuala Lumpur - Blvck Label, Moth to Flame

A really underrated oud house that pushes out great ouds and perfumes.

This one smells of peppery bergamot and sweet orange 🍊. Along with gaiac wood and selected Malaysian ouds. It never fails to disappoint me. Wearing this in the office now. I regularly leave 3 perfumes for my colleagues and I to wear when needed. This always gets compliments.

Oud Stories - Kashmiri Rose Oil

There’s this honey 🍯, and sweet cotton candy nuance to it. It’s well rounded and the scent is complex and not linear. It feels freshly cut and green. I can smell the harvest itself. It’s so clean, dewy, and refreshing. Very beautiful.

mesOUD - Aurantis

I’m geting orange peel, frankincense, wood 🪵. In this hot weather it’s very cooling. Bursting with bright fresh citrus. I’m picking up the black pepper and cardamom which marry well together. The notes are not each one isolated. Rather they are one blend and each one puts out something beautiful. Very nice.

Kyara Zen - Hainan Premium Aloes Powder

I’ve had this for more than a year and never used it. Now, I finally have.

It has a smoky, grassy, Kynam scent to it. Very nice and different.

Sulaym - HM Badshah, Halflong 1981

Perfection! Just perfection!. I’m back from the beach and wanted to something exotic. I’m getting notes of that beautiful clean aged Hindi. Hints of juicy mushrooms, it’s sharp and penetrating the nostrils. It’s exquisite and elegant. Light notes of leather and liquor. Really beautiful.

u/scent_talks - Cuir de Tabac

This was my gateway drug and first scent talks blend I bought that triggered my muskapades. Right away, the cinnamon, rose and orange hit me. It’s so well-rounded but deep, rich and complex. There’s this slight bubblegum scent to it. The birch tar gives it this slight sticky texture that’s lovely and enhances the smokiness of the tobacco .The choice of Hindi and Prachin ouds is on point. The musk here and civet are vanilla-like and potent. The smell of tobacco builds and evolves slowly and is narcotic and intoxicating. Can’t believe I haven’t worn this for months. A real gem 💎

Mishal Atarji - Pure Khao Yai

The opening is like cool weather in the rainforest with raindrops falling down. It’s well-rounded, very smooth and complex. Notes of petrichor. Dark chocolate, wood, and dirt. There is a very faint hint of dry fruits. I’m also getting rock mineral accents. It’s a very inviting oud for first-timers in my opinion. It has something from everything one looks for in an oud. Been too long since I wore this. Really beautiful.
