On The Wrist Neo-Vintage Vacheron Constantin 46009 - Tripple Calendar
Reference 46009 stands as one of the most iconic high-end timepieces of its time, perfectly embodying three core elements: luxury, elegance, and complex calendar complications.
Officially launched in 1987, the ref. 46009 features a classic 34mm case diameter and was offered in two configurations (solid 18K yellow gold or a steel case with an 18K gold bezel). The bezel features a stepped structure (stepped bezel) combined with straight lugs, deeply exuding a luxurious vintage charm.
In 1989, the brand replaced the ref. 46009 with the ref. 47009 (which was exclusively produced in yellow gold). For this successor, Vacheron Constantin made a few subtle adjustments: transitioning to a case back secured by screws rather than a snap-on back, and introducing the signature Maltese cross pin buckle to replace the older, simpler logo buckle.
Consequently, the ref. 46009 appeared in the brand's catalog for an incredibly short period—less than 3 years (1987 – 1989)—making its total worldwide production volume exceptionally modest.
Finding a piece that remains in its unpolished, original condition, adorned with a purplish-red, brass-toned patina like the one in the photo, is truly exceptionally rare.
This is the undeniable hallmark of time, a beautiful testament to the survival and legacy of this timepiece over nearly four decades.
