Lincoln - Skeg

The girls sat behind me en route to Skeg from Lincoln yesterday, thank you! Your conversations and piss-taking of pretty much everyone definitely made for an enjoyable chuckle-filled journey!

This past week I've busked...

Sutton-in-Ashfield | West Bridgford | Nottingham | Mansfield | and a thoroughly enjoyable morning on the Forest Rec.

Anyone who saw/heard, hope you enjoyed! If you tipped, thanks again!

What song(s) (with absolutely no guarantees whatsoever) should I add to my repertoire?

Busking in Long Eaton

Had a fun time busking Long Eaton (idc what the maps say, it's Notts!) yesterday! Wasn't my original plan but hey, made a few quid (and almost certainly made a few ears bleed)!

Wonderwall in West Bridgford

So who was the rather lovely young lady who wrote a sign and shouted out of that first storey window requesting Wonderwall while I was out busking in West Bridgford?

I don't usually play it (out of principle) but after the effort you put into requesting it how could I not? Hope you enjoyed my attempt at not fucking it up too much!

Etiquette

Experienced poor etiquette from another busker for the first time today.

Now I imagine most of you are like me, wherever in the world you are. You get to [insert favoured pitch here] and if there happens to be someone else there you a) find another spot, b) wait for them to finish (you might of course set up if you're not intending to use the exact same spot) or c) wait for a suitable break in their performance and ask how much longer they'll be (I prefer option b and that's generally my go-to).

But out in Mansfield today my friend said I were midway through our set (I mostly play/sing alone but she's got a cracking voice and if we're out together we use her gear and do a handful of duets as she's building her confidence back up) and took a quick hydration break only to find that someone (not gonna name drop but we often compete for the same pitches) had set up no more than 100 yards down the highstreet, volume cranked to 11.

I'm normally pretty respectful when it comes to my volume - half the time I'm out without amplification anyways, but this really pissed me off. Annoyingly we were only intending to stay out for another half hour or so, and ultimately did just that, but that last half hour was LOUD, and I played nothing but my bangers, tracks I know I absolutely rock every time.

No idea how this competing busker did - she's a very talented vocalist who uses backing tracks (to be fair she was out with a bloke who appeared to be doing the "singing" along (badly but with bags of confidence) and tip wise I'm sure she does better than me (I'm a big bearded burly man after all and generally make £20 - £40 in a couple of hours) but I do hope that anyone who was out in Mansfield today, saw that I was pitched and playing long before they arrived, didn't tip them because fuck that. Don't be a prick.

Wee sesh out in Chesterfield the other week. Relatively new to the whole busking thing but thoroughly enjoying myself!
