Frameworks for 3D maps

Does anyone know what twitchmap.com is using to show the 3D map? Is that a framework or just three.js?

Why can't we just pick one map to play again?

I only get few hours a day to play. There are some maps that I just don't enjoy playing. I can only dodge a few before I get banned. Why can't we just pick one map to play?

Edit: Ez solution btw, if the game finds a match that isn't one of your picked maps, it won't ban you for skipping it.

Tatars 2 sheeps per TC is annoying

I just think it's bad game design. This doesnt apply to your first TC which would've been great. By the time you get to new TC in castle age, you have bigger worries than 2 sheeps. I understand it's better than nothing, but I feel like it just adds to one more thing that I have to think about, and it's just not worth it. Either completely take it away or give 2 sheeps on the starting TC.

I just feel like it doesn't add anything positive to the civ, but it just distracts you from the game for a second. For example Lithuanians extra 100 food is immediate, you don't have to sped time and attention which is infinitely better.

Edit: Here comes people who don't play Tatars on Arabia telling me how great 2 sheeps actually are because it's 'eeeeefficient'. I didn't know if you take sheeps you don't have to make farms. Thanks for stating the obvious.

Can we fix getting banned when you leave the queue

So this has been happening to me multiple times now. I queue up for a game, but before the game finds a lobby, I cancel the queue and get banned. I'm not even in a lobby yet. I think they way overcorrecting now. The funny thing is I can't queue for unranked when I'm banned eventhough I can leave anytime in unranked. Doesn't make any sense.

What civs do you have the most fun playing

Not the OP civs or the civs you win with. What civs makes you happy when you see it on the loading screen. For me it's:

First Tier:
- Jurchens
- Tatars
- Gujaras

Second Tier
- Burgundians
- Berbers
- Hindustanis
- Persians
- Saracens (if I get to play with mamluks)
- Huns (only on nomad)

Why are some unranked players so emotional

So I started playing unranked recently, because I just wanted to sit back and relax a bit. However, it's not been so smooth sailing. I get some very interseting teamates and I don't know what to expect anymore. There are a lot of quitters and vill corner wallers. But also I get some weird interactions that I don't know what to make off.

For example, I'm playing as Wu going jian swordsman ofcurse. My teamate is persians and going camels, the enemy is going tarkens. I'm trying to flood the enemy base with my jians and the enemy is kinda doing the same with tarkens in our base. As expected my teamate is defending our base with camels. Sounds perfect, except he suddenly decides to not defend anymore and keep his camels in a corner idle. After flaring and chatting he doesn't say anything. Come to find out he's mad at me for not defending against tarkens with my Jian swordsman. While I'm destroying enemy TCs. Even if we say he's low elo and doesn't understand counter units and unit roles. The fact that he doesn't say a word and decides to greif in a casual game where we put like 30 minutes in aging up is baffling. The fact that people are willing to waste their time and everybody else's on drop of a hat is crazy to me.

I made this post to say, maybe playing ranked is more sweaty, but at least you're getting bank for your buck. Even low elo ranked players are 10x more respectful and rational when it comes to team games. Are there any forums or discord servers where people are playing unranked for fun, and have a good reputation?

What other games do you like to play?

I always wondered what other games, Aoe2 players play. I think aoe2 is the best game ever made, but I'm not an RTS player.

I play:

- Total War (Rome 2/ medieval 2)

- Civ 5

- Some FPS games like: CS/Valorant/Apex

- I like indie games like Factorio, Balatro and so on.

I used to play Stronghold: Crusader with friends, but that was a long time ago.

Edit: I forgot to mention Banner Lord; Mount and Blade games in general.

What happened to 'Capture the Relic'

I remember there was a game mode where there was a single relic in the center and the first person to capture it would win. It was such a blast to play.

I would love to see it back. I think making a 2v2 or 4p ffa is even more fun, since with 8 players it can get way too chaotic.

Underrated vs. Overrated advice

There are players of varying skill levels on this sub, so I was curious; What do you think is the most underrated advice, and what is the most overrated advice.

I'll start. I'm ~1500:

Most underrated - Map awareness: You should constantly scout the enemy. Watch their every move. Think about what they're planning, and what would hurt them the most. Sometimes when the enemy knows, you know their plan, it could actually mess with their heads.

Most overrated - Never idling TC: To be clear you shouldn't idle your TC in 90% of cases, but vill count only matters at very high level, where everyone is almost playing perfect, and a few villagers can make the difference.
In lower elo, you can skip a few vills to get a crucial upgrade that will win you a fight or cut villager production altogether for an all in push.

Hear me out; Civ bonus: Siege Towers shoot arrows when garrisoned

It makes for some cool plays in closed maps. Obviously it needs to be balanced and only for one civ or regional bonus.

Edit: to be more specific, only shoots with archers and villagers garrisoned, so it doesn't get a speed bonus. Also loses accuracy and fire rate while moving.
