A Community Project - Let's standardize Chu Han Nom for Daily Use.

As learning Vietnamese and Chu Han Nom I notice that some of the older tools like from nom foundation are not really usable or from chunom.org. It is kinda fascinating how this good looking script vanishes. Just translating some sentences from Chinese to Vietnamese Script is like a battle of "should I use the phonetic character or the character with the meaning?". It is often just a guessing game. A good example would be cuối cùng. In Chu Nom there are multiple variants according to nom foundation. 𡳳窮, 檜窮 or 𡳃窮.

But sometimes you can use 季共 which also means at least/at last. Of course there are also full Sino Vietnamese words for such, which is Tối hậu (最後), which makes a lot of sense. But the problem is that every scholar and writer use different character to describe the things they want to talk about.

There are also "shorthand" versions like for 裊 -> 𠮩. The landscape is just too vast for new learners. As community it would be great to create a standardize Chu Han Nom. If the community would be interested in such a project to standardize a lot of words and also to import new words, then it would a great thing. It would be lots of fun. I love learning languages.

Any good IME Software for MacOS?

Hello, *testing mic*, do you hear me? (yes from the backstage)

So *lights blending me*, aargh, seriously? Don't make it brigther than it is. So I have a question: Are there any good IME Softwares for MacOS? I don't like WebVersion of IME. I want to type directly into my programs. And Weasel, I can't get over how awful it is. Writing in telex it somethings just invent new things. I write the vowels or the consonants at first then the modification and accents. Normal telex programs work just fine but Weasel doesn't. I tried my normal way of typing **wanm**/ **nawm** / **nmaw** for Năm. But it doesn't recognize it as one word. I should get 𢆥 but I get something like Na mw. I'm still using dictionaries of the foundation and chunom.org

What if we ditched the Latin script and created our own phonetic system like Hangul?

Hello...,

yeah... kinda sad start. As I learnt Korean, Japanese and Chinese and being a native full Vietnamese, I never got the incentive to really learn Vietnamese. I could understand it but I cannot speak it. I didn't care for it. It simply didn't matter to me. So fast forward today, I am in Vietnam for travel. I feel disconnected from everything, like being a foreigner though being a native. Learning Vietnamese wasn't funny at all or even created a spark. With time and time the same thing will happen to me, ...., being excluded. So after surfing through the internet I found something interesting, the reason why I learned Japanese and now Chinese. It was the logographic script. I like something complex. I was exhausted from latin script. If I had the choice, I would remove any latin in my every day.

So~~~~, now I know there was such an "being (of course, a holy being.)" called Chữ Nôm. I wanted to learn it so dearly but to know how to speak it or how to pronounce it, you need to read the Chữ Quốc Ngữ. So why not developing a new system like Hangul. The voyage will start... soon enough. Just needing to setup the engine...., just set it up. Now bringing up the pen and the master to the control board..... Oh it is still morning. I should wait a little bit... Speaking of which I was starving for a new script. Reading traditional Chinese is an process where you think about how the ancient author thought about that one stroke or that one thinggy. All kinda lost. Kinda in Books excluded from any who doesn't learn it because they didn't have the chance. So I want to just say, losing identity and a little bit culture is for me unforgivable. The history goes deeper. The colonial times of french, the missionars and more. We should not drift too much on our course to something new. ALWAYS SEE YOUR NEXT GOAL and not in the past if it is not important.

So talking about goal and next station I think I may have talked too much. Please don't sleep on board. But I think you get the idea. Creating a new script that is phonetical like the current one but it has an own touch like Hangul is the first station of something like this. I want to call it "Quốc Ngữ Chung". The Symbols of All People. (I know, bad bad translation). My vision is something like Chữ Nôm and Quốc Ngữ Chung to be written together like Hanja and Hangul. So supporters for such a project would be nice. Not financially but participation. Just learning it can make me happy. Like a cruser with others. Fun instead of loneliness. So thank you for listening and here are some concept images. Also a website to explore how it will look. Currently there is no IME or transcriptor. (Soon enough.)
