I will gladly admit, I was wrong about this album.

I will gladly admit, I was wrong about this album.

At first when this dropped idk what the reception for it was, but I just felt so ehh about it. Nothing really stuck out to me apart from a couple tracks, but after about 3 months of its release I can say I really really enjoy it now. I did see Snail Mail perform last month so maybe that sways my opinion on it after seeing many of the tracks live, but right now I just can’t stop listening to it. I think Hell, Tractor Beam, Butterfly, and My Maker are the standout ones on here. The lyrics on here about the afterlife and wondering what happens after I think are fantastic with a very dreamy and almost shoegazey vibe all over this album making it such ear candy and so easy to relisten to. Lots of these tracks like Nowhere, Agony Freak, and Dead End feature great hard hitting drums that sound so refreshing every time. Even some slower songs like Cruise and Light On Our Feet fit extremely well on here adding a nice balance to the faster and louder songs, highlighting Lindsey’s vocal delivery which has dipped a little since Lush imo, but sounds brilliant on here. Although I think some of the songs like Reverie and Ricochet end with me wanting a little more from them, I think overall this is a fantastic album with great writing, which is a Snail Mail staple by now. Although it’s not better than Lush, I do have it over Valentine, great album that took some time to click for me, but now that it has I can’t get enough.

This 3 track run on Lush is INSANE!

I discovered Snail Mail earlier this year and have been listening to her entire discography since, but recently i’ve been listening Lush so much lately (more than i usually do) and this 3 song run right after the intro just hook me instantly everytime. For her to start the album with arguably her best songs all back to back is just crazy, I love all of Lindsey’s music, from Habit all the way up to Ricochet, but I just don’t see her topping Lush (or at least anytime soon and I would love for it to happen). I think the writing on this album, ESPECIALLY on Pristine, is just pure brilliance, her delivery on this album is fantastic (i’m also aware of the vocal difficulties she’s had throughout the years that have affected her singing) with unbelievable chord progression throughout it all, and I think the overall sound she was going for on this album was executed beautifully to a tee. And I think these 3 tracks all encapsulate the sound and overall theme of this album perfectly, all while highlighting what made Snail Mail such an exciting band when they were coming up. Go listen to Lush today!!!

Whole band sounded great, made me like this new album a lot more. Started listening to her earlier this year and wasn’t too familiar with many of her other tracks other than lush which i’ve played consistently since Jan, and have given ricochet a couple listens but this concert made me like her music a lot more!Lindsey and the band sounded great and so did the openers, especially Sharp Pins which were fantastic!!
