Apple Car Play - '08 Outlander

I've got a 2008 Outlander XLS which was my wife's truck, but became our spare vehicle. My daughter is (*hopefully*) getting her license on Monday, and I'm giving her the Outlander.

She's **dying** for Apple Car Play, and I'd like to keep the factory head unit (*Nav and the internal HDD, but not a Fosgate system*). I've searched the web and this sub, but everything is either for newer Outlanders, or the entire head unit is replaced which isn't what I want.

Can anyone point me in the right direction for an add-on unit or something so I can get Apple Car Play to work through the stock head unit and speakers?

TIA!

Foreshadowing In S2E2 - Mortynight Run For S8E8 - Nomortland?

Last night [Adult Swim] aired S2E2 - Mortynight Run, which is the episode where Jerry snuck onto Rick's ship and as such, Rick and Morty dropped Jerry off at the Jerryboree. During the scene(s) of the inside of the Jerryboree, we're introduced to Paul Fleishman (Beth's husband in "a" reality where Beth remarries), and a Jerry that is rocking a goatee sans mustache who appears to "run" things there.

In S8E8 - Nomortland, we're introduced to 5 o'clock shadow Jerry, aka Mooch, Paul Fleishman, again, this time with a 5 o'clock, and Boss Jerry who has a regular full grown beard and moustache, not a 5 o'clock shadow. Our Jerry is nicknamed "Eagleman." Throughout the episode, when Boss Jerry blocks Mooch and Eagleman from traveling to alternate dimensions, Boss Jerry sends Mooch and Eagleman back to Mooch's original dimension (where everyone has a 5 o'clock shadow). When Eagleman and Mooch go to Mooch's house, Paul Fleishman answers the door and invites them in as this is "a" universe where Beth remarries.

Am I the only one realizing that S2E2 - Mortynight Run foreshadowed S8E8 - Nomortland? Even the episode and season are extremely similar (S2E2 & S8E8). The only big difference is Boss Jerry. The Jerry from the Jerryboree in S2E2 only had a goatee with no moustache, whereas Boss Jerry in S8E8 has a full beard and moustache. Jerryboree Jerry also only wore a black T-shirt, and Boss Jerry wears a white T-shirt and a black leather jacket.

This would also explain where Boss Jerry got all of the "left behind" Jerrys from (presumably the Jerryboree) that wear the red bandanas. Only thing unanswered is how Boss Jerry got a Rick to be his lesser. 🤔

My Little Velvet Hippos

I've been a member of this sub for some time now, but haven't been able to post much of my ladies due to the photo/image size being too big (I have a Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra and usually take pics at either 50M or 200M which is just too large to upload.)

The grey and white puppy is my Blue Nose Pittie, Giada, that I adopted a few months back. When I adopted her I was told she was roughly 13 weeks old (the woman I got her from had got her from a different family/person, and was never given her birthday unfortunately). My vet thinks she's 6-7 months old now which falls in line with the age I was told she was when I adopted her.

The white pupper is my baby, Winter, AKA Winnie. She's a Catahoula Leopard Dog/Pittie mix, and is a little over 3 years old. I also have an 8 year old Shih Tzu, Ember, aka Emmy, but she's not really a "velvet hippo", so... I could tell that Winnie desperately needed a playmate as she would play with Emmy, but being Emmy is 10lb and Winnie is 60+lb, their play sessions were short at best.

It took about a month for Winnie to accept Giada into the home/pack, but now they're both totally fine together and play all day and night. Giada is a super cuddler and a complete mush with everyone. Winnie is a mush with me and my family (and visitors once she's vetted them), but not 100% with Giada just yet, but Giada is slowly changing that lol.

Velvet Hippo Intro & Food Related Question

A few months back I adopted this adorable little Blue Nose, Giada, as a friend/playmate for my Catahoula Leopard Dog/Pittie mix, Winnie. From day one, she's been an absolute sweetheart! She's super loveable, extremely cuddly, and is just an overall fantastic little lady.

One thing I noticed from the night I picked her up was her eating habits. When I fed her for the first time, I left her alone so she could just settle in and get used to her new surroundings and siblings (I have an 8 year old female Shih Tzu, Ember, as well). The moment I put her bowl of food down, she immediately inhaled it as if she had never eaten before. During subsequent feedings, I'd gently go to pet her and she'd kick it into high gear to the point she damn near choked on her food. I taught her to "sit", then "wait" (along with hand signals) while I place her food on the ground, then once I say "OK, go ahead", she'll go and eat her food.

To slow her down, I bought her a three tier circular slow feeder with a triangular slice cutout (think a personal pizza with one slice missing) on the second and third tiers. The bottom tier stays permanent and has little scoops cutout for food to sit in. The second tier has a slice missing and rotates around the base tier. The third/top tier also has a slice missing, and also rotates; all tiers have the little scoops cutout for food to sit in. This feeder forces her to figure out how to move/rotate the tiers which in turn slows down her feeding speed.

Last night after feeding her, I went to gently pet her and she splayed her front legs/paws out, and tried to eat her food as fast as possible. She's not food aggressive at all. She didn't growl, didn't bark, just kicked it into high gear and tries to eat as fast as possible. I feed her separately from her sisters to avoid anyone trying to get the others food and all, so she doesn't have to worry about someone eating her food. When I give her treats and all, she takes them normally, albeit a tad aggressive/quickly, but that's just a puppy thing as all of my dogs had done that. I'm working on "easy" with her when I give her treats and she's slowly picking up on it.

Anyone have any suggestions on how I can get her to calm down when she's eating her breakfast/dinner? Again, she's not aggressive at all. I can pick up her feeder without issue. I can touch her and or put my hand in front of her while eating and she won't try to bite, she'll just try to eat faster.

Edited for formatting and typos

Editing again to add this as my question isn't worded properly; apologies on that — anyone have any suggestions on how I can get my girl to not guard her food and try to inhale it/eat it as fast as possible when I pet/touch her while she eats? Again, she's not aggressive and doesn't attack, she just "guards it" and tries to eat as fast as possible

Suggestions For Photo Backups?

I've got two (2) DS211j units and a DS413j which I'm using for a small home lab/test environment. Unfortunately neither support DSM 7+, so I can't run Synology Photos.

I'm currently using DS File on my phones (mix of Android and iPhone) which works for the most part, but I'm looking for something more along the lines of Photos. I saw Synology had an app called Moments I think? Anyone here use Moments and if so, how was it?

I'm not sure if I can side load or whatever Photos or not onto either the 211j or the 413j, but to be honest, I'm not really looking at "hacking and whacking" to get Photos installed. I'm always looking for used Synology units so I'm sure I'll find one at a decent price that does support DSM 7+ but until then, I'm stuck with these 3 NAS units and DS File. I do have a few Buffalo TeraStations too, but they (from the super quick search I did) don't have an app like Moments/Photos.

Any suggestions on a better way to backup photos and videos from my phones to either of the Synology NAS units I have or even the TeraStations would be greatly appreciated. I don't mind running an app on each phone, but I'm looking for simplicity.

Leg Phone Ringtone

Last night while watching Season 9, Episode 2 (Rick's Days, Seven Nights), when Rick's leg phone rang I could have sworn I had heard that sound somewhere before. I couldn't stop thinking about where I heard that song/sound before, but it finally hit me around 3 AM this morning when I woke up randomly. The ringtone is one of the songs/submissions from Season 2, Episode 5 (Get Schwifty).

Anyone else catch this and if so, is the ringtone from the Get Schwifty episode? I love the subtle little Easter eggs/things that they incorporate in their episodes.

Suggestions On What Pen To Buy

I've got a friend who is currently over in Japan, and I see that a lot of the "*cooler*" pens are only (*or widely*) available over there. If you guys and gals had the opportunity to have a friend bring you back a pen (*or several*) back to the US from Japan, which ones would you recommend?

I tend to like pens with a smaller tip (*0.35 - .07*) and a thicker barrel (*like the SARASA Grand or a little bigger*). I'm also not looking to spend a fortune nor have my friend run all over the country for me.

TIA!

Pittie Behavior Question

I adopted a 13ish week old Blue Nose Pitbull (Giada/Jade) a little over a month ago and she's been nothing but awesome! I also have an 8 year old Shih Tzu (Ember/Emmy), and a 3 year old (as of yesterday) Catahoula Leopard Dog/Pittie mix (Winter AKA Winnie). Giada is just a super loveable mush who only wants to love and kiss everyone (and everything)

When I brought Giada home, Emmy was indifferent to her, but Winnie was like absolutely freaking not!!! Winnie would show her teeth (she's never done that, ever), let out a deep, hellhoundish gutteral growl, and her hackles would be at full attention. I kept them separated and made sure to slowly introduce them to each other as well as make sure I didn't give one more attention than the other. It took Winnie up until last week to finally realize that Giada isn't going anywhere, and that she only wants to play, not hurt or attack her.

Now that Winnie has accepted Giada into the family/pack and has started reciprocating play, I've noticed that Giada will try to rub her face all over Winnie like a cat does when marking a human/object. She will come up and put the top of her head under Winnie's chin and rub, walk next to her and rub, or walk/crawl under her and rub her face/cheek along Winnie's underside until she reaches her head/face. Winnie allows it for the most part and it's super adorable, but is this something that Pittie puppers do? I've never seen a dog rub on another dog like a cat would, and it's absolutely adorable.

not sure if the flair selected is the proper flair - apologies in advance

At my previous employer, back when COVID and the lockdowns started, they mandated WFH instead of going into the office. We used our personal PCs, connected to the company VPN, then RDP'd into our work PCs to access our files and company shares.

We were allowed to install O365 on our personal PCs too which was great as my rig needed to be upgraded, so I now had an excuse to justify to the Mrs. why I needed a new, better rig. I bought a brand new machine spec'd for gaming which I setup two profiles on — one for me/personal, and one for work. During this time (WFH), I had changed teams/positions and was given a company laptop and phone which also had O365 installed and activated.

I've since been let go and as such, they Soft Deleted my creds in Entra ID, so I lost access to O365. I want to reinstall O365 on my main rig (I replaced the SSD with all of my work related stuff on it with a better SSD, and did a fresh OS install) as well as on a brand new laptop I just bought which is still in the box. Ideally I'd like to not pay the $99.99/$129.99 a year for O365 while maintaining full access to Outlook and the rest of O365 (I don't really need a lot of OneDrive storage as I have a Synology NAS here at home). Any suggestions on how I can get O365 without paying an arm and a leg would be greatly appreciated! Not really looking at using LibreOffice, or Google Workspace.

(sorry if this is a little long winded as there's a notification suggesting to explain everything in extreme detail.)
