Tips for training

I grew up with super energetic cattle dogs. They would pull on the leash and we would work on control and staying beside us. I did agility training with one of them. So my dog knowledge is on these types of dog

Me and my boyfriend recently got a basset x lab. He’s is 10 weeks. Doing super good with potty training but he had areas to work on

He doesn’t walk on a leash at home. We live in town. He’s not motivated to walk around the block. He’s happy in our yard. He just lays down when I try to walk him. In other places he sorta walks on a leash but gets tired and flops over

He has amazing recall for me. I whistle. Call him name and he runs to me. My boyfriend tried and the dog just couldn’t care less

He loves to play with the cat and the cats does enjoy playing too. He’s very gentle with his bites but sometimes he grabs the cats paw and drags him around. I have 0 clue how to get him to stop because the cats tries to play

Thanks in advance

Advice on a Basset Hound

Here’s some back story. Me and my boyfriend are getting our first house after 3 years (yay). I grew up on a farm with blue heeler cattle dogs. Trained for obedience and moving cattle. As a kid we took in a blood hound and all I can’t remember is how annoying she was. She was a good dog but barked like no tomorrow

My boyfriend’s family has had many dog breeds: cane corso, great pianeese, Australian Shepard, and a basset hound. His dream to to have a basset hound again

We are moving from the country to a town. We have a good size place and yard. There’s a little mouse problem so I am getting a cat. The cat will be my responsibility whole and I’m okay with that.

My boyfriend wants to get another basset hound. I know dogs in town need lots of work. I’m very concerned about the barking and stuff. I could manage walks and regular care. Are they as bad as I think? Does anything think this is manageable?

Any advice greatly appreciated thank you

Any insite with CLHA

I just graduated. I finished clinicals end of April. I only got booked in for my exam early June.

I’ve had a terrible time getting into contact with anyone. They say it’s 1-2 weeks and it ends up being 3-4. It says emails are responded to in 2-3 business days and it’s 2 dang weeks

I just wrote the provincial exam and I won’t be getting results for 6 weeks or more. I’m sure I passed but you know…what if?

All my classmates, fellow HCA and LPNS, coworkers and everyone is having the same issues. Just curious if anyone has similar experiences or insite?
