Does this sound menieres related/has anyone else had this symptom? (NOT SEEKING ADVICE)

Hello!

Long time runner, long ish time menieres sufferer here. I'm 30F, and was officially diagnosed after an MRI and balance test 3 years ago. Had symptoms for many years before that (thanks incompetent doctors who took forever to figure it out!!!).

Anyways, I dont have the classic violence spinning the disorder is known for, but I do experience vertigo. My main issues are the aural fullness, hyperacusis, low frequency hearing loss, loss of balance, and crazy tinnitus. If I look to my left (right ear is affected) I fall to the right, which is fun. I have positional vertigo that can last for seconds to minutes, and do experience some spinning when lying down and with my eyes closed. Fortunately for me, this set of symptoms has been very consistent for over the years and never progresses to anything worse, with remission usually lasting a couple of months. I've always been able to run without issue, and the only problem I had was the music in my earbuds bothering my ear. My worst flare was 6+ months, and more recently I thought maybe I was done with this illness for good.

Anyways, exactly a year ago I had a vertigo attack that started as spinning while I was lying in bed trying to sleep, and turned into a weird feeling of my eyes and brain not communicating together when I moved my head. I felt like I was being pulled backwards, and my neck was snapping back. I felt extremely dizzy with my head tilted back. I lost all sense of where I was when I moved my head, but I was not necessarily experience a spinning sensation. I was pretty unwell for two days after, and after that I had no other issues until now... I want to note the severe hyperacusis, hearing loss, aural fullness, etc. is still at bay (thankfully), but now I experience this almost consistently after running, and it doesn't matter the intensity or duration. That is my ONLY trigger currently, and these are my only symptoms. The attack a year ago was completely random and unexplained, but now I experience these symptoms during the daytime, after a run. I just ran a 15k race this morning and as expected the dizziness came on around miles 5-6, and I've been just unbelievably dizzy, uncomfortable when I move my head, experiencing vertigo when I lie down, and overall unwell since. An attack a month ago left me bedridden until I woke up the next morning.

Menieres???? I'm going to see a doctor soon, but I don't have a neurotologist since moving a couple of years ago. Just wanted to hear others' experiences and if you relate to these set of symptoms. This seems weird and different from my classic symptoms, but maybe it is evolving? I'm also stressed because doctors don't seem to be very knowledgable and I don't want to be written off. TYIA!!!

Driving as Solo Female

Hello! I am traveling next year, solo female, and plan to head up to El Chalten/El Calafate after the W trek. Is driving as a solo female safe on these roads? I think it would be most time effective as I don't want to miss any time stuck on a bus and hope to stop and check out the views along the drive. Is this a safe area to drive, without any corruption or safety issues I must be aware of? (I am not trying to sound ignorant, I am just genuinely wondering if any issues/hazards exist or have occurred in the past) I am worried about being stopped by a fake officer for example. I am just covering my bases, especially as a solo woman, otherwise I would not worry with a group so much!. I am so excited for this adventure, thank you so much for being part of my planning!

Landing in PN Airport 8 AM and Hiking to Chileno Same Day Possible?

Has anyone had a morning flight that lands in Puerto Natales at 8 am, and then made it to TDP and hiked to Chileno same day? I am trying to figure out if I should start the W trek that same day, assuming I will be done with airport by 9 am and can somehow get to Laguna Amarga all with enough time to check in early enough at Chileno. I am looking at bus time tables, and they aren't the most reliable or frequent, so might not even be logistically possible. Curious to hear if other travelers have made this happen? In the process of booking my accommodation along the W trek now and really torn on making that first day on the trail this crazy or not. TYIA!

How do you prepare for Supply Planning role (internal applicant)

I've worked various roles in supply chain for 6 years now. I have no supply chain related degree, but have worked my way up to my current role. I work in supply chain sustainability now (same role for the last three and a half years), and work closely with all the teams at my company. This means I have a pretty good knowledge level for supply and demand planning, supply chain finance, innovation, etc. I primarily work with the supply planners, and analysis/excel is the main function of my job.

I passed CPIM this year, as a challenge to myself, but also with the hopes of eventually moving into supply planning, because I do not have an education background in this. My company has a lot of internal growth opportunities, with most of our supply planners having moved into this role internally, from slightly less challenging (more entry level) roles. This gives me hope, and I want to increase my chances of landing a supply planning role.

Challenge level and other factors do also rely on what desk I would have, but to make sure I know the basics of interviewing for supply planning, what advice, areas to focus on, and interview questions to you recommend exploring? I honestly have no idea what to expect! I have a great relationship with the planning teams, and I know they would appreciate me, but its still a business after all and I can't just use that as an in. I also want to prove to myself that I can do this.

Please share all tips, questions, skills, and other prep for interviews you have used to land a supply planning role. This is in food manufacturing, if that is helpful information.

TYIA!!! I am very excited for this opportunity, and hope it opens up soon.

Very Confused About Night 3 on W Trek (East to West)

I have a super quick question, because I am struggling to figure out where to stay on night 3 of the east to west trek (5 days total), with hiking to mirador britanica on day 3 and mirador grey on day 4 in mind. I am over six months out from booking but want to get this sorted ASAP. I am a little lost on the in between Mirador Britanica and Mirador Grey, and not sure where to hike to and sleep.

Here is my itinerary so far, and I plan to hit all of the main spots, even if it destroys me lol. I am just highlighting the sleeping locations and the main goal of each day.

Does this make sense and is this a pretty standard itinerary? I am having a hard time with calculating mileage, and so I am not 100% sure how long day 4 will be also. Any advice is most appreciated.

Night 1: Chileno

Day 2: Sunrise at Mirador Base Torres

Night 2: Cuernos

Day 3: Hike to Mirador Britanica

Night 3: ?????? Italiano or Paine Grande or Frances? Please help! ?????? Where do people stay?

Day 4: Hike to Mirador Grey?

Night 4: Refugio Grey?

Day 5: Explore Glacier Grey etc

I know this is asked a lot, and I really did look at itineraries but I am still confused.

TYIA!!!!

Do most people with bat colonies/infestations in their home require rabies shots?

What about visitors? People only there for a couple of hours into the evening/night?

I have read the FAQ. My partner has a pretty bad infestation in her home. They are mostly just seen flying around, and originated in the basement, where her roommate currently lives/sleeps. Shes unbothered, and seemed to think the first bat seen flew out a window. Then I saw one flying towards me in the kitchen, had it removed by animal control the next morning. Was there the other day, spent the evening cooking and hanging out in the living room, and not even 20 minutes after leaving my partners roommate said a bat was flying around the living room. Basement dwelling roommate did not seem to care, did not want bat removed and went to bed. Then yesterday, another bat flying around. And now this morning, a bat is lying in the bath tub. It appears alive, maybe a flightless pup? Either ways, a daytime sighting of a bat LYING ON THE FLOOR instead of roosting in a ceiling is terrifying. Roommate in basement still unbothered. Animal control called, said they couldnt do anything if the bats are flying around. Some exterminator company is coming today to remove them and hopefully fix the issue that allowed them inside in the first place. My partner has been staying with me, she slept their last saturday night but thats it. She spends most of her time at my place thankfully. So exposure, minus the one night she slept this past week, remains the same. She has not seen a bat in her room either and keeps the doors closed.

What is the prevalence of rabies in house colonies? Do most people with active colonies require a vaccine?

But 1. basement dwelling roommate needs rabies shots, correct? She has definitely been sleeping with them around. Bathtub bat is in her bathroom, in the basement.

  1. Since I was a guest several times where bats were actively awake and apparently flying around, should I consider treatment too? I took a nap during the daytime on this past saturday. Obviously I have zero known direct interactions with the bat, that I am aware of. I feel pretty confident i am good, but still, what if it got me during nap time or I stepped on it. I don't know!

  2. Roommate needs a bit more education on the matter, and I am not sure what to do cause I have already informed her about bats and rabies and the need for vaccines. I don't think shes going to even consider getting vaxxed.

Overall, I think I am safe, but still on alert and want to take rabies seriously. TYIA!

Extreme Exercise Intolerance - When Does it Improve?

Hello!

My ferritin is currently at a 12, and I've been begging my doctor to help me fix my chronic fatigue because it is ruining my life. Thankfully I asked for this test, but unfortunately she was not informed on the effects iron deficiency without anemia has and told me to eat more spinach..

I was training for a half marathon in May of last year, and around then is when I really started to experience the extreme fatigue. I ran the race and didn't feel great, but it was a real struggle to get back into running after. I have not been able to consistently run for the last year now, and have been trying to get back into it. I am NOT getting back into shape! I cannot run for very long, I am so slow, and I often have to walk and take breaks. This is not like me at all. I am a trained yoga instructor, and can barely hold poses that used to be nothing to me. Despite consistent yoga practice. I am taking 50mg gentle iron daily with 500mg vit c in hopes that it improves my numbers. But until then, when will I start to be able to run and feel fit again? It doesn't help that I've gained 7 lbs in the last three months, which is CRAZY because I am now 20 lbs heavier than I was in Jan last year. My weight has remained very steady for a long time, so something is definitely up with my body/metabolism. I am hoping to get back in shape and signed up for another half marathon early next year as motivation, but I am feeling extremely discouraged and disappointed in how poorly I feel when I try to run, even if I take it easy. It is just not getting easier and I don't feel myself getting any stronger, despite being consistent.

When did you feel improvements in your exercise tolerance and fitness levels? I need some hope that I will feel strong and fast again. TYIA!

"Doctorsplained" Today - Do I Accept or Advocate?

Hello!

I am an active 30 year old female who has not been feeling great for almost two years now. My main issue is just extreme fatigue and weakness. At my worst I was probably napping 2-3 hours daily, and even falling asleep while working without realizing it. My doctor ran some tests, nothing out of the ordinary in 2024. I met with my doctor today because I am so sick of feeling this way, and read low ferritin can really impact a persons quality of life. I talked more in depth about it today with my doctor who, after my test back in April came back at a ferritin of 12, said to eat more leafy greens... I am a strict vegetarian/flexible vegan, so I already do that. My diet isn't stellar, but its better than most peoples, I'd argue. I was a serious runner, yogi, swimmer, etc. but I have serious exercise intolerance now, and I've gained 10 lbs in 6 months because I can't keep up with my usual exercise routines anymore.

I did have a ferritin of 25 in 2023 with borderline low iron. I was also B12 deficient and working on correcting. I was prescribed some iron pills and carried on with my life.

Anyways, it is now June 2026 and I still feel like garbage! I asked to have my ferritin tested at my physical back in April and the doctor asked me "why", in almost a condescending way. I said I am chronically fatigued and barely functioning throughout the day and need answers. Turns out my ferritin was 12 :). My Iron tests came back normal, as did all values in my CBC. This to her is not concerning, she said to continue eating spinach, asked me if I understood what ferritin is, and told me its not an important factor in explaining overall health issues. I dropped my SSRI/SNRI to see if it improved my quality of life, which it did, and she was giving me a lot of crap for that and I feel like it swayed her opinion of todays meeting. I was almost in tears, because I feel awful. Just so awful, I am wasting my young years away.

Anyways, the TLDR is, I wanted to ask for iron infusions, but she condescended me, asked if I even understood what these values and tests are looking for/mean, and told me to eat spinach or try some ferrous sulphate pills if I want to, and to up my vit D dose (shes more concerned about that being low). I didn't get around asking for an infusion because I felt kind of dumb, and alarmist at that point. Especially given she would not drop the stopping of my psych meds without supervision (I am fine, this is a non-issue currently, and was worth the risks for me personally).

Should I push harder for infusions? Do you think it will help? Is this a drastic drop and should be a cause for alarm? I just feel so terrible and struggling with daily tasks and things I used to love. I tried to get into a hematologist today but they require a referral, and my doctor made it clear ferritin is not an important

TYIA for reading this far!!! Any stories similar to mine especially would be amazing. All the best!

I (30f) 115 lbs 5 ft 2, had an A1c of 6.4 in Jan 2025. I was the fittest I had been for a long time, and myself and my doctors were horrified. They were so shocked they even brought me back in to check me for type 1 diabetes and referred me to an endocrinologist because of my physical health/appearance. I kind of obsessed over it a little, got a cgm and finger pricker thing, and also happened to be training for a half marathon in May last year. Then I got burnt out, became super lazy, didn't run or exercise much for the rest of the year, got extra sleepy (2hr naps daily) and depressed, and my diet had to have been pretty garbage. I will say though that I always make sure to eat all my vegetables before my carbs since learning I was practically diabetic. I've gained 10-15 lbs in about 3 years, which isn't too bad and I was pretty underweight and malnourished before that (still never had an A1c below 5.6 tho in that time). I spent the last 3 months in a very carb heavy country, ate whatever I wanted, really didn't give af about anything (still depressed and sleepy). I had my annual physical about two weeks ago, and my A1c is down to 6!!!!!!! I was blown away. Both my mom and brother (25) have much healthier diets and are great about exercise, and they have relied on metformin for years.

Either they truly messed up my labs a year ago, or they messed them up this year and I am full blown diabetic and don't know it. Maybe I really somehow changed something to bring it down, or I am just a feat of nature. Either ways, miracles do happen, folks! Anyone else experience this? I am really really fascinated lol.

I had a shoulder MRI with arthrogram two weeks ago this coming Wednesday, and the arthrogram was excruciating this time around. I have been having recurring literal nightmares about it, and when I think about it and get traumatized all over again. This was my third one and the procedure was insanely worse than the other two I had (10 and 16 years ago). I can't even remember the first two being that painful at all. It definitely was painful afterwords, and my first one was way more painful recovery wise, but only lasted a few days. Anyways, recovery seemed pretty straight forward after and only lasted a few days later. About a week ago I went to a yoga class and thought I was good to do my usual stuff. I am in agony now, but it feels much more muscular. Very much concentrated around my bicep, and there is a lot of weakness and pain with my arms out stretched, lifting and sudden movements (driving for example). It doesn't feel like the joint space which is good, I think. Has anyone had a bad experience with their arthrogram and found recovery is taking longer than usual? Getting worried and trying to figure out if seeing a doctor about this is in my future. TYIA!!!

▲ 2 r/prozac

I (30F) have been on prozac for about 2.5 years or so, and on 40mg for about 2 years I would say. I have seen the doctor and have had numerous tests run on me, because I cannot stay awake during the day. Like, every cell in my body is shutting down between 11 am-6 pm. I am guaranteed to fall asleep and take a nap, and it is affecting my physical, emotional and mental health. I really thought I was dying from cancer or some hidden disease, because it was so bad (I am healthy!!!!!!!!!!). I would even nap upwards of three times a day sometimes, and just could not stay awake all day long.

When I say I needed a nap during the day, I would fall asleep at my computer while I was working without even noticing. I would be in meetings at the office fighting my eyes from closing against my will. It was PAINFUL to even move, because the fatigue was so extreme and affected my whole body. I was scared to start each day, because I hated how I would feel every afternoon, just staying awake was torture.

I was on it (in order of necessity) for OCD, Depression, Anxiety (and insomnia). It definitely helped my anxiety, and maybe my depression a little, and I really don't think it did much for my OCD. I had to add Effexor in November 2025 because my depression was still pretty bad. I took the prozac at night to avoid daytime sleepiness since we suspected it was causing problems, but ultimately it has caused worsening depression for me, because the level of fatigue I experienced meant I had almost no social life anymore, could not exercise (avid runner, yogi, etc), and I was beginning to see my job performance deteriorate.

I stopped the prozac and effexor cold turkey two weeks ago (I know, not good, I'm desperate though) to see if it helped, because I noticed whenever I would run out and not refill for a few days/weeks (even months :/) I would stop napping! So far, I have taken one nap (I was bored and didn't actually need it lol) since stopping, and I don't even have the same painful daytime urge to nap. I still get a little drowsy around 3 pm probably because I've conditioned my body, but it is nothing even remotely close to what I experienced. I already feel myself feeling better as a human. It is quite remarkable. I am looking forward to staying awake during the day time now, and have no withdrawal symptoms.

I am not sure what I am trying to get out of this post, but I have struggled with some health anxiety since fatigue is usually a sinister sign of health issues. Interested in hearing other folks stories similar to mine, and what ended up changing for you or helping you. Anyone else out there deal with crippling fatigue and hypersomnia on prozac? I know its less common/considered paradoxical. These mechanisms are super fascinating, but also caused a pretty dark period in my life that I am looking forward to putting behind me, especially now that I can enjoy summer time without sleeping through it :)

How does anesthesia affect you? I am having shoulder surgery soon, and stress is a major trigger for me. So I know that I will be in the throes of a bad attack/flare because of the stress of going into surgery and the subsequent recovery. How are your symptoms after anesthesia and while on pain meds? I am very worried about how this will affect my menieres. Any information is so appreciated!
