Automatic Sprinkler Systems OFF When it Rains

Howdy, friends. A gentle reminder to please turn your automatic sprinkler systems off when it’s raining. It’s bad enough that we as a society waste a resource as precious as water on irrigating useless sidewalk strips and ornamental lawns. And also if you have a sprinkler system, please make sure that the heads are not busted and simply flooding the area like the one pictured here. We need to be better about this. Water is invaluable.

Need help with spool pin

Howdy. Can anyone tell me what type of spool pin this is and where I might be able to get a replacement? It no longer fits properly on my machine. The pin comes loose and just spins around, I have to put tape around it to get it to stay upright. No matter how hard I try, I just can’t quite seem to figure out how to fix it.
Thanks!

Solution for a case?

Here she is: my new machine 😍. This is my second machine. I found it yesterday at the thrift and just couldn’t leave it there. I’ve always wanted one this color and it was in good shape. Brought it home, gave it a good clean, got some great help from this group regarding the motor (thanks again!), and it sews beautifully. I’m ordering a couple of parts that need replacing, but I realize that it’s not going to be very practical to use without a case.
My current machine is already in a big desk and I live in a tiny 1-bedroom apartment, so getting another desk isn’t feasible.

Does anyone have any suggestions for a case for this machine? One that I could use to sew out of?
Thank you!

Is this motor salvageable?

Bought a 1959 Brother Model 230 Galaxie at the thrift today and am giving it a good clean and oiling. Is this motor salvageable or should I replace it with a new motor? I’m concerned about the weird bumpy texture on the tubes coating the wires. Thanks!

Is this motor salvageable?

Bought a 1959 Brother Model 230 Galaxie at the thrift today and I’m giving it a good clean and oiling. Is this motor worth keeping and using or should I replace it with a new one? I have some concerns about the weird bumpy texture on the tubes coating the wires.
