Pole dancing and relationships

How does pole dancing affect your relationships? If you have a partner, are they supportive? Do your family members support you?

I’m thankful for a supportive boyfriend. He cheers me on, knows some of the tricks lol, and always supports events I put on. As for family, my mom took almost 10 years to finally accept my pole dancing. Before that, it was a point of contention.

How bout you?

For my intermediates who want some static flow in their lives (includes sneaky pants!)

So I posted a video few weeks ago with combos from pole sit. u/GoddessHypatia requested I show one of the combos, a sneaky pants to inside leg hang, on static pole, so here it is!

I added in some fun extras, like the reverse grab flare spin in the beginning, a tonny/tawny (sp?) and a French press.

Static can be fun 😜 enjoy!

What classes you took/are taking within the past two weeks (Sun 7/5 - Sat 7/18)

Last week I took Pole Exotic Int/Adv at Pole Superwoman. It was really challenging for me. I think I’d need a beginner Russian Exotic class before trying that one again lol

Hbu? What classes did you take or plan on taking within the past 2 weeks?

These are skills for absolute beginners to work on!

I made this video to show some skills that absolute beginners should work on in the beginning of their journeys. Many folks come on here upset because their first class is too hard, or bc they didn’t get their climb or INVERT (da fuq?!) on their first try, etc.

Beginners, these are some basic pole skills you can work on or expect in a true class for newbies. Please don’t be discouraged!!

PS If you’re in NYC or LI, there are plenty of other absolute beginners to network with over at r/poledancersnycli 🤗

Not sure what to do after a pole sit? I GOT YOU!

Hey everyone! Especially my advanced beginners!!

Here are 3 different tricks/combos from a pole sit!

  1. Pole sit to stargazer sit (I know that knee placement can be tricky but try to point the knee UP!)

  2. Pole sit to figure 4 layback (make sure to be secure in your knee and pike those legs up!)

  3. Pole sit -> vomitron/baby snake -> ballerina (definitely warm up your shoulders before attempting this combo)

There’s a bonus one for the intermediate level folks! Pole sit -> sneaky pants (aka scissor sit to cradle to Jamilla) to inside leg hang

Which one is your favorite? Which one are you gonna try?

PS: if you’re in NYC or LI and want to show off your combos from a pole sit, come to r/poledancersnycli !

How much would you pay for a private lesson?

I’m willing to pay $100-$125 for a 1-hour private lesson. Those are the typical rates in NYC. I usually did privates if I was working on choreography for a big show and needed extra help.

How much would you pay? Do you think privates are worth it?

Tricks you have NO desire to learn

What are tricks you don’t care to learn?

Personally, I don’t care to learn fonjis or spatchcock. Both will require a lot of training and brain power for me that I don’t have lol. Fonjis don’t look sexy imo and I don’t have the hip flexibility for spatchcock lol.

Hbu?

Can’t wait for Polecon, which is in 2 weeks! Who’s going? Or watching the livestream?

Ahhhhh I’m super excited for polecon! This will be my 3rd year attending and 2nd year performing! Here’s a mini clip of me in 2024 during my Black Girls Pole performance (RIP to BGP 😢). This year I’m in the PowerFlow showcase!

I know I’ve asked this already, but who’s going?! And who else is performing? Anyone taking workshops? Or is anyone gonna catch the livestream?

When I was a beginner, static spins (Juliet, chair) were kind of difficult. Also struggled with teddy (still do to this day lol). I know some other folks who struggle with climbs, wrist sits, genie, pirouettes, or other skills.

How about you? What beginner skill do you struggle with currently or in the past?

Heavy on the promise because I see so many vids labeled “beginner level” but include inverts, handsprings, you name it!! Most of these tricks are achieved in a beginner/level 1 course. The trick after figurehead is probably level 1.25 or 1.5 but you can do it!!

PS if you’re in NYC or wanna visit, show me your beginner level flow at r/poledancersnycli 🩵😘
