[E6 SPOILERS] The scene in episode 6 when…

it panels from Hugh’s POV to his kids, and they’re all still kids… It always makes me tear up. Mike Flanagan is a fucking genius. I’m not a parent, but I understand enough about the world to know parents will never stop seeing their children as their children, no matter how old they get.

Desperate for direction

Hi, I posted before about my dog’s cheek “tumor”… The advice was to get a histology. I want to give a quick run-through of what I’ve done and discovered since then—

August 10: “tumor” cut out ($300)
11: Agreed to send out for histology ($150)
16: Swelling came back while on antibiotics and prednisone
17: Went back to the vet to have outside of cheek lanced ($200)
20: Vet checkup where it was healing well but still excreting puss; histology came back saying it was a ‘inflammatory foreign body reaction’ ($100)
31: Swelling is back

This pricing doesn’t include the antibiotics and anti-inflammatory medications that I purchased before, during, and after the above dates. The vet never recovered a foreign object, despite draining the inside and outside of his cheek.

Please, I’m begging you. I don’t want a diagnosis. I just want direction. I’ve already decided to get a second vet’s opinion and he has an appointment later this week. I can’t afford another stint like what I mentioned just to “hope” the problem resolved itself.

I’m not an idiot— I used to rehab wildlife, I understand physiology and virology and how a living body responds to the outside world. I’m confident my dog got a foreign object lodged into his cheek months ago, and his immune system is responding by localized swelling. If I get an x-ray, will it be helpful in locating what and where the foreign object is? He’s been put under twice in two weeks, and it can’t be good for him long term. I’m so stressed and I just want this problem solved.

For context: he’s a 6yo, neutered, cattle-pit mix (so he has meaty jowls). He’s in good spirits, but it literally looks like he’s smuggling a golf ball in between his upper jaw and cheek.

He told me we’ve had s*x before

Not sure if this is allowed, but I don’t have any girl friends to talk about this to. I’ve had a crush on this guy since 9th grade. We finally reconnect when I visit home again, he brings me back to his place, and very nonchalantly says we’ve already had sex and that I’ve been to his house before. ??? I’m like, “no, we haven’t. I would have remembered…” and he’s like, “it’s not a big deal if you don’t remember, but we definitely have.” So I asked him to tell me something specific about my body. He couldn’t come up with something. I finally told him that I have my nipples pierced. He just stays silent, so I excuse myself to the bathroom.

At this point, I’m so annoyed and feel like I’m taking crazy pills. It’s making me truly second guess the reality of my memory. I tell him I’m going to head home and he just says bye.

I’ve been scrolling through my phone pictures trying to jog my memory, replaying the events, visualizing his house, and absolutely nothing is coming to mind.

I was watching Black Phone 1 & 2, and…

The main female actress, Madeleine McGraw, screamed and I was like, “Holy shit, that sounds just like young Ellie!” You know that very distinct raspy cry/scream she has? Anyhow, they’re sisters in real life. What an interesting trait to share with your sibling!

How do I know when it’s time? (15-17)

It seems like my cat comes and goes with health. One day he’s out prowling in the weeds like a tiger and carries himself like a kitten. Another day, he’s laid up with labored breathing.

He’s always been a glutton, but he doesn’t graze like he used to with dry food. Now, he’ll only eat wet food and waits for me to give it in the mornings. I’ve started feeding him a whole can in a day versus a third, because I know his teeth are bad.

I’m going to be burnt at the stake for saying this, but I think it would be absurd to spend thousands of dollars to pull the teeth of a cat that’s already elderly. The procedure is already hard on healthy kitties.

I guess what I’m asking for is someone with previous experience to share their story with me. I’m a realist and can make hard decisions, and that doesn’t mean I don’t love my cat any less than you do. I’ve been lucky enough to spend 12 years with him, and I know that’s more than other people get.

I appreciate anyone who can offer their story, and for those that don’t make my hard situation harder by criticism and judgement. Thank you 🫶🏼

Is the second picture a Grade I or II sprain?

I don’t know what the first picture is (I never went to a doctor), but that was my first sprain five years ago and 24 hours after injury. The second picture is my current sprain, and ~ 48 hours after injury. Both sprains, I was able to draw the alphabet with my toes without any pain.
