Mosh in Satan’s name today.
Hey all, I’m a younger guy (28) on the bigger side (6’2, 270 lbs). I have a pair of cargos that I was gifted as a birthday present about 2 years ago and I like them a lot; they’ve got a lot of room and stretch, which is wonderful for my regular flares. Sadly they don’t make them anymore, so I was curious if any of you had any recommendations for HS-friendly cargos?
Preferably in black or dark gray. I’m a metalhead, so by proxy everything I wear is black lol - save for socks and undergarments!
I’m reaching a point of being completely fed up. I work at a job where one of the expectations is for me to do a lot of walking around, which I’m generally able to do. However, this year my HS has been rearing its ugly head harder and more often than it has in a long time.
I have multiple accommodations in place to help me cope with the often-unbearable pain and discomfort. There are things I do on a daily basis to help mitigate the pain as much as I can, but as many of you know, there’s only so much that can be done sometimes. And yet, despite all of this and despite me explaining myself more often than I think is necessary, I still find myself at the end of the “disciplinary” stick with my supervisor for “not meeting expectations”.
They’re fully aware of my condition, and I’ve allowed myself to be vulnerable enough to talk about how debilitating it can be.
And this shit still happens. Documented conversation after documented conversation.
There are days where it’s a miracle that I even showed up to work because of the pain. This is one of those days. I have a golf ball-sized boil coming in on my perineum. Standing hurts. Walking hurts. Sitting hurts. Everything hurts, all the time. I’m fed tf up.
The goal is to hold out for the next week, when I’ll hit my one year and I can officially apply for FMLA. But at this rate, I just wanna fucking quit. I don’t, but I do. I’m trying to just get my life going and I’ve been hit with nothing but setback after setback.
I’m not looking for advice, this is purely a rant. I’m sure I’m not alone when it comes to similar experiences. Everything is expensive and people are incapable of empathy. That’s all lol
Hey all, new to the subreddit. I have a moderately active form of HS, diagnosed about 7-8 years back. Made all the pain and discomfort I dealt with throughout my younger years make a whole lot more sense.
I currently work as a security person in a retail store. My position isn’t the typical “standing by the door all day” kind of thing; I’m mostly handling cameras, and (trying to) do frequent walks around the store looking for suspicious activity.
Therein lies my problem; the expectation is for me to spend 80-90% of my shift walking around on the floor.
I have a handful of accommodations in place to help me better manage my condition. I have a slightly reduced schedule (4 days instead of 5, sadly wasn’t able to make a 4x10 scenario work so it’s 4x8), gel cushioning for my office chair, and an extra break. I’m currently in the process of getting an accommodation approved where I don’t have to spend as much time walking around, when dealing with a flare.
All that to say, I’m admittedly burnt on this job just overall. It is stressful, and I try to just look at it as a means to an end because it does pay pretty well (trying to save up to move out in a more expensive state), but it’s getting harder and harder on a physical/practical level, and on a mental/emotional level.
Not really looking for advice on what kinda job to look for, but I am curious as to what kinds of jobs you guys have, and what’s worked for you. I’d be curious just to hear some differing perspectives and experiences. 🌸
