USC or NYU, or UNC. Pls read the post first.

The major I actually want to study is business, but UNC and NYU accepted me for econ, which was my alternate major. USC accepted me for business, but only for Spring 2027. Honestly, I have no idea what to choose. Funny how I got into three great universities, but not exactly the way I wanted. 🤣 What would you guys choose?

Also, those of you who got into USC for Fall 2026, are you actually going? Bcs I know a lot of people probably won’t accept because of the cost, so I’m curious how realistic it is that they could still offer some Spring admits a Fall 2026 spot.

Thanks everyone for the replies, and congrats no matter where you got accepted. 🥳

Why is NYU so depressing?

Could someone please explain this to me? NYU has always been my dream university because I absolutely love New York, and I love how the school is basically part of the city itself. You walk out of a university building and you’re immediately in Manhattan, and there’s constantly something happening in NYC. Because of that, it feels hard to imagine becoming emotionally trapped in the “college bubble” where school becomes your entire identity, since you can just walk a few blocks and suddenly be in a completely different environment.

That’s why I’m confused about how NYU is apparently ranked among the most depressing universities in America. I was accepted there as a transfer student and I really want to attend, but this genuinely surprises me. Especially because some academically more intense schools in less exciting locations seem like they would affect students’ mental health even more. So what exactly makes NYU so difficult for students mentally?

Thanks for any answers.

NYU and USC

Hey, I just got accepted to USC for business but bro… for Spring 2027, and that’s really not it for me. Especially as an international student, there’s just no way I can go back to my home country for half a year. That’s a nightmare.

And NYU decisions are supposed to come out tomorrow. Do we know if this (the picture) means I’m accepted there tomorrow?

Yeah and btw, since I applied to USC for the fall semester but got accepted for spring, could I still be considered for the fall term if not all students admitted for fall end up enrolling?

UNC or NYU

Right now I’m deciding between the two, with the fact that I still haven’t received my decision from NYU. I’ll probably send my deposit to UNC for now, but obviously I could still reconsider if I got accepted to NYU.

I got into econ at UNC, and for NYU I applied to business with econ as my alternative major. I honestly don’t give myself much of a chance of getting into business there though.

Anyway, if I did get into NYU, what do you guys think would be the better option? Oh and btw, I’m an international student, so I’m not really factoring cost into the decision.

What I like about NYU is obviously NYC and the fact that it’s a private uni, but at the same time UNC is ranked higher in rankings. As an international student though, international prestige also matters to me, and that’s honestly hard to compare.

I’d also appreciate it if you explained in the comments why you think one would be a better fit for me than the other.

Thank u.

NYU coa

Guys, and isn’t it actually the case that your upload button should disappear even if you’re rejected or accepted? I honestly wouldn’t stress that much about not seeing a COA yet when you still have the button. Maybe you’re not in this wave, and if your button disappears tomorrow and you still won’t have a COA there, then of course it could mean a rejection, but I’ve also heard about a lot of people who got their COA only together with their acceptance.

Question for those with low HS GPAs.

Guys, I feel like so many transfers have terrible high school GPAs and then suddenly amazing college GPAs, which honestly seems really weird to me because college should obviously be way harder. I’m currently studying at University of Washington and my GPA is 3.75, which is honestly not something you see very often here. Most GPAs are much lower because of how difficult it is, and also because most of my classes are graded on a curve where the average GPA is literally set around 2.9.

In high school I was a straight A student and had a 4.0 GPA. I remember before I started at University of Washington they literally sent us an informational video saying not to expect to keep the same GPA from high school because your GPA would probably drop a lot since the difficulty increases so much.

So I’m genuinely curious how I keep seeing transfers with like a 3.2 HS GPA and then a 4.0 college GPA. Like sorry, but what kind of shitty schools are you guys attending? I don’t mean this in a bad way, but is it basically that because some of you had bad HS GPAs, you ended up at easier universities or community colleges, and now you’re transferring into Top 25 schools because it was much easier to get a perfect GPA there?

I’m not trying to troll, I’m genuinely curious what’s actually behind this.

Anyway, good luck to everyone. I just don’t understand how someone can have a better GPA in college than they had in high school when college is obviously supposed to be much harder. I’d appreciate an explanation.

I’m still f*cking waiting.

Honestly bro, I’m still waiting on NYU, USC, and Notre Dame, and realistically I’d still consider any of them. Right now I’m set on going to UNC, but when I know that if I get into one of those three I might completely reconsider, it’s hard to even want to deal with housing, classes, and all that. In the end everything could still change. Like NYU will probably come this Wednesday, but the rest, damn, probably at least another two weeks. 😩

Anyone else feel the same? I didn’t really have one uni where I wanted to go way more than the others, so this whole thing is kinda driving me crazy.

Imagine if they leaked Psych 210.🥹

Imagine if they actually leaked those weekly essays from Psych 210 🤣. I wrote about the craziest stuff in there because Nicol wanted us to, and I was just like, “it’s Nicol, she’ll get it.” I took it last year, but dude, essays about sexual fantasies, BDSM, sex toys, etc., where Nicol specifically wanted us to write about our personal views and experiences… holy shit. I’d genuinely lose it if someone read the stuff I wrote there. 🤣

Dude, that’s literally the most popular class at UW. Those hackers must be looking at this like “what the fuck kind of university is this full of hypersexual maniacs.”

I genuinely feel like this cycle is never gonna break. Like holy fuck please stop rejecting me already. I’d still be happy to get into somewhere (well except for Northeastern, idgaf about that one 💀).

Like does anyone have any tips on when this finally turns around or if it even does at all? This is so fucking frustrating. It’s not even like I expected most of them to accept me, but after UNC I was like omg what?? to the point where I felt like I could randomly get an email from MIT saying they want me even tho I never even applied there 😭 and instead it’s like… damn not even W&M which was literally supposed to be my safety.

Someone call them for me and tell them this shit isn’t funny anymore and to just accept me already because it’s literally not that fucking hard to write “congratulations” in a letter 💀

And if one more person tells me “it only takes one school” I’m gonna lose my shit. Like yeah okay if nothing else works out I’m going to UNC but my whole plan was either a private school or a school in a huge city, ideally both, and UNC is neither 😭 Like what the fuck am I supposed to do there? Herd cows? Plow fucking fields? Lady Gaga is not about to pull up there for a concert for fuck’s sake. Fuck this shit bro holy fuck …

Or does someone wanna switch? If NYU, USC, or Emory don’t accept me then I’m just gonna trade for one of those three like Pokemon cards.

And before anyone says it, I’m obviously not complaining so nobody better comment some bullshit about how I should just be grateful for where I got in 💀 (Okay yeah obviously I am complaining 😭 you have no idea how confident I was before this whole thing. I was basically sitting there waiting for a call from Harvard and then even fucking W&M joined this gang that’s bullying me lmao)

Hey, I was recently admitted as a transfer student to University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. My first choice was business, but I didn’t get into that, and instead I was admitted to the College of Arts and Sciences since my backup was economics.

I’m currently studying at the University of Washington, and the system here works a bit differently. For something like economics, you first have to complete certain prereqs, then apply to the major, and even then it’s not guaranteed you’ll get in. Basically, for a lot of majors—even within Arts and Sciences—you still have to go through another application process. That’s kind of one of the reasons I’m transferring.

I emailed my counselor at UNC to ask if this means I’m basically admitted to economics as my alternative choice, and she said something along the lines of:

“Within the College of Arts and Sciences, you can pretty much choose your major freely, including Economics, without having to apply again. The main exceptions are Computer Science and Biomedical Engineering. For those, and for any majors outside of Arts and Sciences, you’d need to apply separately and admission isn’t guaranteed.”

So does that mean that once I pay my deposit at UNC, I’ll be in the economics major? Sorry if this is kind of a dumb question, I’m just a bit traumatized by how it works at UW 😅

So I’m an international student currently waiting for my transfer decision from NYU and honestly I feel like I’ll get in either for business or econ. NYU is super highly ranked for these majors mainly because of its location and how close it is to Wall Street.

But the thing is as an international student it’s almost impossible to get an internship in the US on a student visa and even after graduating it’s really hard to get a job through OPT or visa sponsorship.

Right now I study at University of Washington in Seattle and I’m doing really well. I’m active and for example I recently had a meeting with people from Boeing and they were really impressed with my resume and overall profile. It honestly felt like they were about to offer me an internship but the moment I mentioned I’m an international student it was basically over.

That’s why I’m wondering if it’s even worth it. If I get into NYU I’d really want to go but I’m worried I wouldn’t be able to get what the school is actually known for in these majors and it would just be frustrating. I already feel this a bit at UW and I’m scared that if I move to New York City a city full of corporate opportunities it might actually make that feeling even worse.

Is there any international student at NYU who could share their experience and maybe give some advice? Thanks a lot in advance.

So I got into UNC (econ) and BU (business), but somehow got rejected from William & Mary… which was literally my “safety.” Love that for me. Like yeah, I don’t even care about W&M because those other two are better anyway, but still—anyone got an explanation for that? At this point I have absolutely no idea what to expect from UVA tomorrow lol.😅
