Finally finished our DIY Home Theatre room! (1-year weekend project with my dad)

Finally finished our DIY Home Theatre room! (1-year weekend project with my dad)

Super excited to finally share this, our home theatre is actually done!

For context, we live in a 4BHK and it's just me and my parents. We had this spare room that was basically just a dumping ground for empty boxes and old luggage for years. About a year ago, my dad and I decided to clear the junk and turn it into a movie room. We DIY-ed the aesthetic, and it turned into this massive weekend bonding project.

It tested my patience, but we finally got the tech set up this week and I am super happy with how it turned out.

To keep the room looking clean, we avoided mounting a giant black TV and just grabbed a little portable smart projector instead. It keeps the wall looking minimal when we aren't using it, but still gives that proper cinema vibe.

For seating, my dad has awful back stiffness, so sitting upright for 3 hours on a standard couch wasn't happening. We decided to splurge and got a motorised massage recliner. Honestly, it was a great shout. It's electric so he doesn't have to aggressively kick a manual footrest down when the movie is over, and it has a built-in massager that he absolutely abuses the second the credits roll.

It took a whole year of weekends to put this together, but having a proper movie night in here with my parents made all the effort 100% worth it.

My maid didn't show up and I had a flat inspection today

Guys, legit thought I was dead. My regular didi took a surprise holiday (classic Monday), and my landlord was coming at 11 AM to check the condition of the flat. I saw those Snabbit ads and thought 'chalo let's try.' The lady (Seema didi) came in like 12 mins. 12 MINUTES. She cleaned the hall and kitchen so fast I'm actually questioning my regular maid's speed. Cost me barely anything, If you're in a pinch, just go for it. 10/10.

How many finance apps do you have on your phone? I just counted mine and it's 9.

Groww, Zerodha, HDFC, LIC, Policybazaar, CRED, ET Money, some insurance tracker, and a mutual fund direct platform. Each one is good at exactly one thing. Zero consolidation, zero intelligence, zero cross-platform view. Anyone else stuck in this situation or have you found something that actually solves it?

Is anyone in India seriously building an AI agent for personal finance - not a chatbot, an actual agent?

Following the global trend of AI agents that can take real actions on your behalf. Curious if any Indian startup or large company is working on a conversational finance agent that knows your full financial picture and can actually act on it. Anything interesting in this space?

The dining cashbacks on the new District app are actually legit.

I always assume new app promos are going to have a million hidden terms, but I have to give credit where it's due. I booked a table for Saturday night through the District app, fully expecting the restaurant manager to throw a fuss about the discount. Turns out it was incredibly smooth. Got the table right away, paid through the app, and the 10% cashback hit instantly. It's definitely replacing Swiggy Dineout for me at this point. What's the best deal you guys have managed to stack on it?
