I never go there for ice cream. We always end up with Van Leewen or Momu because they’re convenient after dinner. They are ok, but as my kid says “they’re mid.” Besides Carvel whatever it’s called now, are we forgetting any places we should try? We do not like Milkcraft.
My trustworthy and honest repair guy suggested I buy a new Washer Dryer combo because mine was not worth repairing. He said don’t buy it at a Home Depot or Lowe’s type of store. Go to an independent shop. I don’t know if he suggested this because he wants to support local businesses but someone told me the ones sold at HD use cheaper internal parts that break more easily. This is done for a lot of tools and appliances so those stores can get them cheaper. Has anyone verified this? The prices are the same at both.
I just made 8 meals with food leftover for under $14. This is so easy and you have extra meat and cheese leftover for other meals. You can substitute easily and add stuff and they freeze well too. Here’s what I got:
1 can Smokey Spice Pinto Beans 1.59
Pork shoulder roast $5.21 these come pre seasoned in BBQ or Carne Asada
Shredded cheese blend 12oz 2.79
1 Pouch of ready to eat Spanish Rice 1.79
8 burrito size tortillas 2.35
Cooked the pork in the crock pot and shredded it. This was a *lot* of pork.
Heat up the rice pouch for 60 seconds and fluff the rice
Take a tortilla, add a layer of cheese, pork, rice and beans.
Roll those bad boys up. Put into a Tupperware or you can wrap them in plastic to freeze them individually.
They are cheap, filling, DELICIOUS, and you can cook your own rice and beans if you want, get another package of tortillas and double the amount you get. I have a lot of leftover pork so I can make more or make a couple of bbq sandwiches.
I am going to hopefully get back to Aldi and stock up on these pinto beans. They’re called Smokey Spice, pinto beans marinated with tomatoes and savory adobo spices. The can says they’re HOT, they have some heat to them. There’s also a mild version called Canyon campfire, black beans with roasted corn and ancho pepper. I think I’m going to use these the same way but with chicken. Enjoy!!!
