Removing tier of cabinet shelves - can this be done AND not look stupid?

Removing tier of cabinet shelves - can this be done AND not look stupid?

I need a bigger refrigerator. House is 1941 built and has built in cabinets. See below:

My question is, can I cut the lower tier of the two smaller cabinets while keeping the rest? I would remove the doors and use decorative plates/plants/cookbooks etc like this: https://i.imgur.com/u6FQvFn.jpeg

I was playing to use an oscillating multitool, and then sand down the edges. Then move the lower middle piece up to just complete the outside framing again.

High Rise Men’s Dress Pants

Hello frugal men:

I am looking for dress pants for work with the following qualities:

  • Under $50
  • High rise
  • Suitable for business casual
  • not khakis or chinos
  • Wrinkle free or non-iron (I am lazy)

Something like Haggar but high rise? I am not particular about materials.

Maybe I’m asking for too much but wondering if anyone has any suggestions here.

Edit: heard loud and clear on the price. I’ve bought so many pants under $50 that tick all the boxes except for the high rise, I figured it was possible someone out there knew something decent. Seems like vintage is my best bet.

Litter box advice - placement and odor control

Hi all,

Just adopted my first cat. She’s a year old and very wonderful. Long story short:

Cat is recently spayed and we have a small dog we are doing introductions to, so her current safe place is our bedroom. Her litterbox is there as well for the time being. I have a few questions for the long term.

We bought a stainless steel litter box and Pretty Litter, and when she poops the smell is very bad. She is eating Purina LiveClear as I have mild allergies. We add a small amount of the food from the shelter to transition. I clean the poop as soon as I know but the smell lingers.

Long term, our options are to either have the litterbox in the living room, or in a closest after I install a cat door. Of theas, what are my best options here?

  • Closet: considering switching to the Breezy tidy cat system as this will be minimal dust (I think?). Maybe some deodorizers as well? However, is this bad for our cat? I also don’t want the dog digging into the litterbox.

  • Living room: this would definitely require the most odor control. I am considering a used Litter Robot 3 (can find them around $200) if going this option but read very mixed things on the Odor control. I have the money, but really would prefer not to drop $800 on a new LR4.

Any and all advice appreciated. Cat tax: https://i.imgur.com/vmQ4C3B.jpeg

I have been in my current role for a bit over a year. To keep it short - it has been incredibly demanding. I work extra hours during the week, on the weekends. I am burnt out and miserable, my family hates it and I hate it too.

Everything has been a bit of a dumpster fire since I started. Employee quit on the spot, technology issues and constant overwork meant things fell behind and overall are not in a great spot.

I manage a team of 3 - but one quit earlier this year so we have been understaffed for almost two months. I have been incredibly busy, and the wrong job posting meant I was not getting quality candidates so I have yet to have an interview.

A job in my niche career area came up - it’s less work, better money, overall an improvement. I applied and received an offer. However, I am feeling extreme guilt about leaving my team and boss hanging. The most notice I can give is 3 weeks.

Am I an awful person for wanting to leave? I feel like I need to accept this job for my career, family and mental health but can’t stop feeling guilty.
