Indonesia itinerary for 15 days - looking for tips

Hi guys, for my next trip this year me and my wife are going to Indonsia for the very first time.

We are both 34 yo, semi-experienced travelers, visited over 45 countries already if that matters, enjoy mix of both nature, active travel but also like to party and meet some folks on the way.

From Asian countries we have been to 2x Thailand, 2x Philippines - planning third time for christmas this year :D, Cambodia, China and Malaysia.

Our itinerary so far looks as follos:

Itinerary:

  • Sep 04 (Fri): Flight VIE -> Beijing
  • Sep 05 (Sat): Beijing layover (Arrive 04:50, Departure 18:00) – Great Wall tour with trip.com
  • Sep 06 (Sun): Arrive in Jakarta (00:15) - Quick sleep, spend the day exploring Jakarta
  • Sep 07 (Mon): Morning train to Yogyakarta (~09:00 departure), afternoon in the city
  • Sep 08 (Tue): Yogyakarta - Jomblang Cave & Goa Pindul
  • Sep 09 (Wed): Yogyakarta - Borobudur (sunrise) + Prambanan (sunset)
  • Sep 10 (Thu): Yogyakarta -> Probolinggo / Mount Bromo (Travel day + early night for sunrise)
  • Sep 11 (Fri): getting to Tumpak Sewu Waterfall -> staying over night
  • Sep 12 (Sat): Morning ride to Mount Ijen (midnight hike) -> Short rest -> Ferry to Bali -> Arrive in Bali
  • Sep 13 (Sun): Looking for suggestions
  • Sep 14 (Mon): Looking for suggestions
  • Sep 15 (Tue): Looking for suggestions
  • Sep 16 (Wed): Looking for suggestions, Canggu in the afternoon?
  • Sep 17 (Thu): Canggu for party & relax?
  • Sep 18 (Fri): Canggu for party & relax?
  • Sep 19 (Sat): Canggu for party & relax? Getting to Jakarta in the evening?
  • Sep 20 (Sun): Jakarta
  • Sep 21 (Mon): Fly home (01:00 AM flights

I am obviously concerned about Bali due to getting mixed reviews of commercialized over tourism vs one of the most charming islands in Indonesia, but I bet it might make sense to experience it on my own, yet we are looking for suggestions on how to plan our days in this island.

Of course, any suggestions related to Java leg of the trip are more than welcome!

Thanks in advance

Brasil itinerary + Buenos Aires for a weekend + budget

Hi guys,

I consider visiting Brasil this year as I have found really nice cheap flights from Europe around 500 eur for a round trip, it is open jaw so I need to go to Buenos Aires first which I heard is really expensive at the moment yet a weekend sounds tempting, just for sight seeing.

I am not sure about the Brazil prices tho, lets say we are not backpackers anymore, but also we do not need fancy restaurants (but tends to go out for a few drinks at night ;))

First of all I would like to kindly ask you if you think that around 70$ per person / day(excluding accomodations and flights) would be enough for comfortable travel and to actually enjoy Brasil?

Second of all, I prepared really early version of itinerary that I would like to consult with folks with better experience ;) We have visited ~ 45 countries, including South America, so safety is of course a concern but I am aware of the situation and possible risks. Not sure about Paraty / Ilha grande part I think i would need some more due diligance - we are mid 30, love to meet people, love nature and to party a little bit but we in general we like to spend our time active so not sure if these destinations are suitable for us.

Thanks in advance!

Date Day Destination / Plan
04.09 Fri Buenos Aires
