Hi guys, for my next trip this year me and my wife are going to Indonsia for the very first time.

We are both 34 yo, semi-experienced travelers, visited over 45 countries already if that matters, enjoy mix of both nature, active travel but also like to party and meet some folks on the way.

From Asian countries we have been to 2x Thailand, 2x Philippines - planning third time for christmas this year :D, Cambodia, China and Malaysia.

Our itinerary so far looks as follos:

  • Sep 16 (Wed): Looking for suggestions, Canggu in the afternoon?
  • Sep 17 (Thu): Canggu for party & relax?
  • Sep 18 (Fri): Canggu for party & relax?
  • Sep 19 (Sat): Canggu for party & relax? Getting to Jakarta in the evening?
  • Sep 20 (Sun): Jakarta
  • Sep 21 (Mon): Fly home (01:00 AM flights

I am obviously concerned about Bali due to getting mixed reviews of commercialized over tourism vs one of the most charming islands in Indonesia, but I bet it might make sense to experience it on my own, yet we are looking for suggestions on how to plan our days in this island.

Of course, any suggestions related to Java leg of the trip are more than welcome!

Thanks in advance

Trip to Yugawara Onsen - One of my favourite hot spring gateway near Tokyo

When I want some calm and relaxation time, one of my favourite destination is Yugawara Onsen. It's not too far from Tokyo and you can rest peacefully here in a cool retro vibe.

Manazuru port is close so make sure to go there and enjoy the fresh fish and seafood!

I listed here some of the best places to visit while you are in Yugawara Onsen.

Island suggestions from Singapore

We’re flying from the UK to Singapore late December to middle of Jan, we have just under 3 weeks in total.

Looking for sugguestions of places to visit that are easy travel from Singapore.

We’ve previously been to Bali (and Nusa Islands), Thailand (Koh Samui, Krabi, Phuket), Vietnam (most of the big tourist locations). I’m been to Malaysia & Sri Lanka (but my husband hasn’t). I’ve also been to Batam off Singapore.

We’re early 30s, no children and would like a high standard of accommodation. Probably want a bit of a mix of adventure and chill. We’re not big party people. Ideally looking for a gorgeous beach / relaxing section for one location. We really like the vibe of Bali with chilled beach clubs, coffee shops and gorgeous restaurants but we’re looking for somewhere a bit less touristy now (I know we are also tourists!!).

Places I’ve considered Komodo or Shumba Island, potentially Philippines or langkawi.

Please send any advice or suggestions!

Advice Travelling South East Asia for 10 weeks

I’m going to go south east asia next year as a 22 year old for about 10ish weeks, id love to do longer but wouldnt be able to. (Unless I flew back and fourth from uk which would add an extra four weeks but dont know if that’d be worth it)

I’d be going from August till October so was thinking of something like this:

\- Singapore for 3/4 days (I have a friend I’m going to visit there)
\- Malaysia for 14 days
\- Indonesia for 4 weeks
\- Vietnam for 4 weeks (towards October so weather is better)

I’ve heard Thailand weather isn’t great that time of year so im not sure if I should skip and come back in a few years.

I do really want to spend a month in vietnam it’s definitely the place im looking forward to the most.

How does this sound or should I spend less time in some areas to explore others? I even wanted to fit in Sydney as I have a few friends there but only so much you can do in 10 weeks 🥲

30M solo traveler – Samui, Phangan or Tao for Aug 16–21? 🌴

Hey everyone! I’m a 30M solo traveler heading to Koh Samui on August 16th and staying until the early morning of August 21st.
I’m trying to decide whether it’s worth moving around and spending some time in Koh Phangan or Koh Tao, or if I should just stay in Samui for the whole trip.
I’ve heard that Samui can be more couple/family-oriented, while Phangan is supposedly much better for solo travelers and socializing. At the same time, I’ll be traveling to Indonesia for 13 days right after this, going from Jakarta to the Gili Islands, so I’d actually prefer to keep this part of the trip easy and relaxing rather than constantly changing islands.
What I’m looking for is pretty simple:
🏖️ Good beaches & swimming during the day
🌴 Relaxed atmosphere / maybe some exploring
🍹 A bit of nightlife and partying in the evening
👋 Ideally somewhere easy to meet other solo travelers
The other big question is the weather around August 16–21. How has it been recently, and is it worth changing islands based on the forecast?
Would you stay in Samui for the whole 5 days, or split the trip with Phangan/Tao? And if you would move, how would you divide the days?
Any advice from people who’ve actually been there around this time of year would be hugely appreciated! 🙏

Travelling in Asia with meds…

Hello, does anyone have any experience of travelling in Japan, Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos and Thailand with ADHD meds? I’m heading off for 6 months backpacking and just researching and looks like Concerta/methylphenidate is pretty much banned in all these countries or only allowed to take very small amounts in. I’m on 54mg Concerta XL methylphenidate and panicking …. Thanks all
