Transistor tester necessary if one has an LCR meter?

Hello everyone

I have a Fnirsi LCR meter, the LC1020E, which I'm happy with but I'm wondering if there'd be a benefit of also having a transistor tester.

I'm very much an amateur trying to learn as much as possible so I'm not an advanced user. But I enjoy trying to salvage components from old kit sometimes and therefore wonder if a dedicated transistor tester would offer much I won't be able to do with the LCR meter?

Thank you very much in advance

Tips for winding 100+ turns of thin enamel wire on ferrite core

Hello everyone

I'd like to make a transformer with about 100 turns of quite thin enamel wire and am looking for tips on how to do that without the wire becoming tangled. The wire is wound on a plastic cylinder and the ferrite core is about 3cm long with an inner diameter of about 1,3cm.

I'm wracking my brain but cannot "see" any good way for doing so, beyond having the wire lying in a big heap on the floor which necessarily results in lots of knots.

Thanks in advance for suggestions.

Two instances of Signal

Hello everyone

This morning the Signal app on my iPhone (iOS 18) cloned itself into two. Opening each instance shows the same version number, 8.9 (1558).

I tried a restart of the phone but it didn't help. As you can see in the second image one of the instances defaults to a template icon when viewed on the home screen but when the folder is opened it changes to the ordinary icon.

Does anyone have an idea how I can resolve this?

Thank you very much in advance

Hello everybody

I hope it's ok as a novice to ask this about this here.

I have salvaged this variable capacitor from an old portable radio. Its frequency coverage is seen in the last image, basically from 150 kHz to 18 MHz and also FM.

I would like to try to use it with a loop antenna I'm building and would like to measure the capacitance with my LCR meter but I'm not sure how to understand the various connection points on it. The text is a bit difficult to see on the first image so I've included text boxes.

I've searched for the brand Mitsumi and the text at the bottom but don't find any that look exactly the same.

Thank you in advance for your help
