microphone not working, tried almost everything - ssd error?
a bit of context: my old computer short circuited a few weeks ago from my ac dripping onto it. broke, but the ssd and ram survived (which is what best buy employees told me about it, ram seems to work just fine). Bought a new computer and installed the ram and ssd, and suddenly my microphone no longer worked, and it worked just fine on other computers/before i installed the ssd and ram. I tried booting the computer with both ram out ssd in, ram in ssd out and it seemed that when i took the ssd out, my mic started to work. So i used clonezilla to transfer the storage on my old ssd to a new one because it seemed that the problem was the storage drive but now my mic doesnt work again after integrating the old system so now I believe that its a possible setting or something faulty. ive also tried my headset mic but there is absolutely 0 sound. when i try an online mic test, it tells me the mic failed to start. the computer can recognize the input, but absolutely zero audio from any mic i try
my system is windows 11 with an asus motherboard
methods ive tried (that i remember)
-reinstalling drivers
-doing device manager mic properties, messing with audio levels etc.
-every port on my computer and a usb hub
-making the mic the main input source
-downloading mics software (the software isnt able to pick up my mic)
thanks for any help ! if nothing works im thinking about just fully rebooting the system.
