LED light bulb not fitting in Singer Slant-O-Matic 503a/500a (“Rocketeer”)

I recently decided to update all the lightbulbs in my machines from the old incandescent ones to LED, because I don’t like how hot and dim the old ones are.

No issues with any machine so far except for my Singer 503a. The manual says it uses a push and twist bulb, and I bought a new Singer-branded LED one. The old bulb that came out of it was also a push and twist one, so it doesn’t seem like the socket was retrofitted or anything like that. However, the new bulb doesn’t seem to want to twist and lock into the socket. I don’t want to push too hard and risk breaking something, but it just doesn’t want to turn, even with a little force to push it in.

Is there some other type of twist bulb I should be using instead? Anyone else have issues with this bulb fitting? Trying to figure out if I got a defective bulb or something, since it technically should fit…

EDIT: Issue solved! Contacts and lugs needed to be sanded a bit to get a good fit. The contacts especially were quite thick/tall on this particular bulb. I estimate I must have sanded off a good 2mm at least.

Needle Help! Sewing interlock or possibly ITY mystery fabric

I got about 4 yards of 60" fabric in the discount bins at my fabric store the other day. I have no idea what it is, but I'm almost certain it's either interlock or ITY. I've never sewn either, only woven fabrics. I got this fabric for a school project where we have to use a knit.

I'm having trouble deciding what needle to use. I'm planning to make a simple gathered skirt with pockets, using my serger and regular sewing machine.

Here are the needles I have, which ones for the serger and which for the regular machine? I don't really understand all the numbers/letters on them, just the type and needle size:
- Organ 130/705 H SUK BP 75/11 (already in my serger)
- Schmetz Jersey/Ballpoint 130/705 H SUK 80/12
- Schmetz Stretch 130/705 H-S 75/11
- Schmetz Stretch 130/705 H-S 90/14

If it helps my machines are:
- Janome 8002D serger
- Kenmore 385.15616 (old model similar to Janome HD-1000)

Sewing instructor gift ideas? 3D Printing possible.

I'm just wrapping up my second semester of a fashion design sewing class and I'd like to gift something nice to my professor after having taken classes with her for a year.

Any ideas for sewing accessories or organizers or anything like that I can gift her? Maybe something personalized with her name on it?

In the past a Joann's gift card would have been perfect, but that's not an option anymore. I do have a 3D printer at home, so that's one option for making her a gift, although I'm open to buying something too. Budget is preferably under the $50ish range, with $30 being ideal.

Premixed Grout - Easiest one for “old school” contractors?

We are getting our bathroom remodeled by a contractor/water remediation company (insurance paying partially).

We’d like to use a single-component grout for the new tile install, because we have a lot of grout lines (small format tile on the floor, 4x4 on walls) and want something that’s low-maintenance, non-cementitious, and doesn’t need to be sealed.

Initially we wanted an epoxy grout, but were told that it’s going to be very difficult to install/maybe not possible. Ok, instead we settled on Laticrete Spectralock 1 since it has everything we’re looking for, and sent it over to the manager/company owner who’s been handling the communication between us and the tile guys. He got back to us saying the tile installer likes to use Poly Blend Plus, and that the premade stuff is really hard to work with. Uh, ok… well Poly Blend Plus is probably the last and farthest thing away from what we wanted.

So we suggested Prism SCG as a compromise, since it’s a newer formula and supposed to be easier to work with. We get a response saying that the Prism brand is ok, but the tile installer doesn’t know what SCG is. I’m guessing he thinks I’m talking about regular Prism, which we don’t want (it’s a regular cementitious grout just like Poly Blend Plus).

This is kind of starting to annoy me. Is there any option that isn’t listed here that I can give the tile guy so he will be comfortable working with it? Or am I better off finding somebody else for this install? Anyone have firsthand experience with these and can speak to the ease of application for somebody that seems to only have experience with cementitious grouts?
