Maybe I'm slow or late to the party, but I think his name is Protagonist Halo because he's so strong and manages to get himself out of situations you'd never expect him to recover from. Apparently, to have the "Protagonist's Halo" is the Chinese internet slang version of what we call plot armor. It might explain why he still had a lot left in the tank after Bai Zhong blasted him into smithereens or how he escaped Fang Tang's punishment (him being on the clothesline). Idk

Yeah, the concept is cheesy. I thought it would be a really cool idea, and I worked my butt off drawing this. I drew concept art, but I'm unsure about posting it, so I drew an Otoya and Karasu version of one of the PASWG posters. I hope you guys like it

Ok, so I'm just rambling here, so the ideas will be all over the place, but when I was schizo walking, I remembered this thing that I saw called matriphagy. Matriphagy (in this case) is when a bunch of centipede babies consume their mother. The mother centipede will regurgitate liquid to nourish her babies, and after a few weeks, the mother will sacrifice herself to her babies to consume her (until her exoskeleton is left) to increase their chances of survival. This phenomenon actually reminded me of Asuka's death in EOE. Y'know, the scene where the mass produced Evas literally ate Unit 02 alive (or rip Unt 02 apart, I think)? It reminded me of that. Especially when I always thought that Eva Unit 02 KINDA looked like a red centipede. Centipedes also tend to live and fight off ants (and basically function) for more than 14 hours after decapitation or being cut in half, which also reminded me of when she tried to move again after getting cannibalized. All that was really left of Unit 02 at that time was its exoskeleton (and its guts, but you get the point).

Conclusion: I think that Unit 02 (who is basically Asuka's mom) died like a female centipede. Thank you for coming to my Ted Talk
