I built a Chrome extension that automatically organizes your bookmarks for you [Open Source]
My bookmarks were a mess. Hundreds of saved links, no folders, and finding anything meant endless scrolling. So I built Recall to fix that.
What it does, simply:
When you save a bookmark, Recall figures out what it is and files it into the right folder for you — automatically. No more dragging links around or making folders by hand.
It sorts things in two ways:
- First, with simple rules — it already knows GitHub is for coding, YouTube is for entertainment, and so on. This is instant and happens right on your computer.
- If it’s not sure, it can optionally ask an AI to help categorize. That part is totally optional — if you’d rather not use AI, it works great on the rules alone.
A few other handy things:
- Search that actually works, even if you make typos
- Find and merge duplicate bookmarks
- A trash bin so you can undo deletes
- Import and export your bookmarks easily
- Open a whole group of bookmarks into tabs at once
The best part: everything stays on your own computer. No account, no sign-up, Your bookmarks are yours.
It’s free and open source. Would love any feedback: https://github.com/aayushmehta25466/Recall
