Making Sarah from Labyrinth ballgown.

I am making the ballgown Sarah wears in the Labyrinth.

The first image is the bodice from the movie. The other two are what my dress looks like now. The sleeves and skirt I had help with from my grandma.

My question is how to proceed. I will not add all the yellow beads I will keep them more white or iridescent. I have only clear glass beads for now.

What improvements are required?

I know there is a bit of a gap between the base skirt and the overlayers and i will add a ruffle under to fill this. I WILL ADD LAYERS UNDER TO MAKE IT POOFIER!!! as it is pretty flat.

I know people make their own versions and im not too bothered in making it super duper accurate but I want it recognisable. Eg im not using very yellowy/green materials but keeping it cleaner so it doesnt look so mouldy.

Any advice would be appreciated.

I have also sewn little crystals and flowers onto the sleeves to hide the cinching on the sleeves but that is not on the image yet.

Thank you

Wild swans , Dzikie Łabędzie

Some pretty illustrations from my childhood book about the wild swans. Its a very short and vauge summarised version for children but its still nice. The shortness of the book always irked me.

What to do next with qualifications? I am stuck despite the obvious and unhappy.

I am 22 with a 1:1 degree in Master of Pharmacy from a russell group university. I am just finishing my foundation training year as a trainee pharmacist and have taken my exam, the results will be on the 21st of July.

I did my training year in community pharmacy and a psychiatric hospital. Mental health has always interested me but I have become disillusioned with mental health pharmacy.

The problem is I have autism and am better at learning, studying and taking exams. Working as a pharmacist or with patients makes me miserable, dealing with illogical people for example. I can not empathise with the patients fully either. My supervisor said she thinks I will get overwhelmed working as a pharmacist and I do not have a job lined up after I qualify as a pharmacist (this is in the community sector, I did not qualify for a job consideration there because of this assumption).

I also had an interview at the psychiatrist hospital but gave up my spot for these reasons:

- I did not truly want to work there. It was boring and I felt stuck, like I could do more good somewhere else.

- I felt I only got the interview due to ticking the box about disability and to be considered for an interview.

- A lot of other people applied and wanted to do the job more than me so who am I to compete with them, for what?

Now I do not know what to do.

I will finish my training year at the end of July. Then , assuming I pass, I will delay my registration for a few months. I will visit family abroad in August and learn to drive (hopefully) in autumn. This is all because I do not know what to do next.

Everyone along the ways tells me I can't do things and I don't know what to think.

The supervisor saying I would be overwhelmed as a pharmacist - perhaps I would be. I don't think I could pass an interview somehow.

In the first year of University they told me I may pass the course but I will not be fit to practice by the university occupational health service, the teachers disagreed I assume because I was allowed to continue on the course. Now I am wondering if it was right all along.

In secondary school the teachers told my mother that her daughter would not get into college as I did not speak and yet I did manage to go there.

I do not want to work in community pharmacy nor hospital. Maybe remote or in a clinic but this is hard to find and realistically not for newly qualified pharmacists?

I will be a prescriber upon registration.

I don't know what to do next.

I like to read and write and draw. I only took this route to show I am capable of achieving something and because I am good at exams and science.

I want to make some sort of useful difference not a job dealing with illogical people.

I have been told to go into research but this is very vauge statement and I have no idea if I have it in me to continue.

I am a very isolated person and don't know how to interact with others so perhaps studying for the rest of my life would be fitting?

I think I would like to do some sort of research which makes a difference to people but I do not know if that is feasible or realistic.

I don't know anything.

Thank you for reading, any advice would be appreciated.

Trying to find a specific book with the fairytale Dziewczynka i lalka.

Hello,

I am trying to find a specific book, a collection of all the complete Grimms fairytales in one set, preferably with all of Arthur Rackhams illustrations related to these specific fairytales. I am in the UK to get an idea of which versions are available here. I do not mind if the book is in English or Polish.

If there is a Polish version of these complete fairytales in Poland I can also try to obtain it from there, although I understand a polish version may not have the specific illustrations I want.

I am trying to make sure the book definitely has the fairytale "Dziewczynka i lalka" which would be The little girl and the doll in English, but I have not managed to find any information on this specific short story in English online.

* I am aware there is a folio society book from 1996 that may fit the requirements but it is tricky to find.

Thanks for reading! I appreciate any suggestions.

Manchester mega con August

What is everyone planning to dress up as for the Manchester mega con this year?

Its always so cool to see all the people in costumes walking around on the street :)

I know someone going as Frieren and Krul Tepes from Seraph of the end.

Does anyone know of any support groups or meeting groups for autistic people in the Manchester area of UK?

I feel it is very hard to make friends or even find people who are similar or understand being autistic.

I was directed to a website for peer support groups but the majority are for children or parents of autistic children.

Thanks
