Advice for switching from "Live to eat" to "Eat to live"?
Mid-40's, and I've always loved good food, fancy food, junk food, you name it. I loved eating out, trying new things, fun or complex flavor combinations, and sweets, oh my. Most of those things now make me feel physically awful, and it's so dang depressing to me. Compounding that is I also enjoyed alcohol. Not to excess, but enjoyed good tequila and bourbon, IPAs, ciders, sours, or just a nice cold Modelo. All out the window.
It's total mindset and lifestyle shift that I'm having a hard time adjusting to. Is there a book, blog, podcast, or something that helped?
It's become a major issue in the last year following an extended illness. I have a follow up next month with an allergist/immunologist. I've been on levo for Hashimoto hypothyroidism for ~14 years. Allergy testing revealed I have no true allergies, but several wonky immune/inflammatory markers consistent with HI/MCAS that they'll discuss more with me next month. I don't foresee a "quick fix" and I know I need to make these adjustments, it shouldn't be so difficult but it just is so far.
