Iranian student waiting for Norwegian study permit
I’m an Iranian Erasmus Mundus student and scholarship holder currently waiting for my Norwegian study permit. I submitted my application in May 2026, received my DUF number, but still haven’t received any decision or update from UDI. My university starts in two days.
What concerns me is that most of my classmates from other nationalities received their decisions months ago, while the Iranian students are still waiting. We contacted UDI and were told that we may receive a decision even after the start of the university. I also asked my course coordinator and the international office to contact UDI about the situation. They kindly agreed to follow up, but unfortunately, it doesn't seem to have made any difference so far.
Being stuck in this limbo has made me extremely anxious. I genuinely don't understand why it is taking so long to make a decision (any decision)when I have provided all the required documents.
Is it possible for the decision to take so long that I end up missing the semester? In that case, I may potentially lose both my admission and scholarship, since Erasmus Mundus Joint Master programmes generally don't offer the option to defer enrollment for a semester (at least, I haven't heard of such an option).
Are there any other Iranian or Middle Eastern students who applied for a Norwegian study permit in 2026 and are still waiting?
