A elite odeia o Lula porque ele cuida do povo.

Vale a pena jogar, tenho a platina do primeiro e logo farei do segundo.

[Returnal] - #15

One of the worst games I’ve ever played

Why Returnal Is a Bad Game

First of all, the last trophy didn’t pop, for those whom have played returnal, this is a huge problem because the collectibles of this game are random generated so when you finally are able to see them, it’s very frustrating to have a problem basically with no common answer.

Returnal is a technically impressive game, but that does not make it a good game. In many ways, it feels like a collection of great ideas held together by frustrating design decisions.

The biggest problem is its excessive reliance on RNG. Important rooms, weapons, upgrades, and collectibles can appear in completely different places from one run to another. This can be acceptable in a roguelike, but Returnal sometimes takes it too far, especially when you are trying to complete the game. Progress can depend less on skill and more on whether the game decides to give you the right room or collectible.

The game also has a questionable approach to progression. You can spend a long time building a powerful run only to lose everything because of a single mistake. While this is part of the genre, Returnal often gives the player very little meaningful control over how much of their previous progress they can preserve. The result can be more frustrating than rewarding.

The collectible system is another major weakness. Completing the biome surveys can become less about exploration and more about repeatedly running through the same areas hoping that the correct room finally appears. Some collectibles have extremely low spawn rates, turning what should be an exploration objective into a tedious grind.

The game also does a poor job of communicating certain mechanics and objectives. There are several situations where the player has to figure out obscure requirements through experimentation or external guides. A game should be mysterious, but being unclear and being unnecessarily cryptic are not the same thing.

Another problem is the story. Returnal presents an intriguing mystery, but it deliberately withholds so much information that the narrative can feel more confusing than compelling. The ambiguity is clearly intentional, but ambiguity does not automatically equal depth. By the end, many questions remain unanswered, and interpreting the story can require considerably more effort than the actual narrative payoff justifies.

The difficulty can also feel inconsistent. The combat itself is excellent, but the game sometimes creates difficulty through repetition and randomness rather than through genuinely challenging encounters. Once you understand the combat system, many enemies become manageable, while the real obstacle becomes getting the right conditions for a successful run.

Finally, the game has a strange relationship with the player’s time. Returnal demands a significant investment while repeatedly asking the player to do the same things again. That can be satisfying when every run feels meaningful, but it becomes exhausting when you are searching for one specific room, Cipher, Scout Log, or Xenoglyph and the game simply refuses to generate it.

Returnal is undeniably beautiful, technically polished, and mechanically sophisticated. Its movement and shooting are among the best in the genre. But those strengths do not eliminate its fundamental design problems. A game can have excellent combat, graphics, atmosphere, and sound design while still being frustrating, repetitive, opaque, and unnecessarily dependent on luck.

In short, Returnal is a great example of a game that can be impressive without being enjoyable. Its technical achievements are undeniable, but its progression, RNG, collectible system, narrative ambiguity, and disregard for the player’s time make it, in my opinion, a very bad game.

First game to make me rage quit

I like challenges but something tells me that the RNG of Returnal is so broke. I have played 4 roguelike games in the last 10, no one of them had me rage quit, man hahahaha 40h and I haven’t reach the final yet. Probably just skill issue, whatever.

Meu setup

[Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Splintered Fate] My 10th Platinum

Harder than I thought. Also, you have to buy the DLC to have the platinum. My 4th rogue like platinum, I really enjoyed this genre.

[Absolum] My 9th Platinum

Since I started the roguelike/lite games, I haven't stopped collecting platinums, five since May 1st. I Hope to reach 100 oneday.

Absolum is a great game, had too much fun playing it. Highly recommend it.

Qual site para acompanhar troféus?

Tenho utilizado o MyPSt e o PSXtrophies pra acompanhar meus troféus. O segundo tem interface bem mais limpa que o primeiro, mas o MyPSt mostra a dificuldade das platinas. Teria um site que mostre a dificuldade das platinas e tenha uma interface mais limpa? Pode ser gringo se não tiver BR.
