My fellow bitches! I need your help!

I am looking for the *holy grail* commuter/tote bag. Right now, I have a Longchamp and a Beis work tote - both aren't it for me. I hate how floppy my Longchamp is, I also dislike the lack of pockets/compartments. I love my Beis for these features and its structure, but the quality is lacking; my straps are about to fall off. The size of the Beis (the Work Tote, regular size) is spot on.

Any recommendations for a tote bag (or something similar - I'm open to backpacks or messenger bags) that can withstand daily train commuting? I'd like something roomy with structure - enough to keep a tablet, cardigan, book, and water bottle. I also want a way to close the bag and protect the contents through midatlantic wet seasons.

I'm willing to spend up to $1,000 for the right bag that will last for years. It does not need to be court-appropriate.
