Cyndi at the Catherine Russell Birthday Concert in NYC

Yesterday (Saturday), I watched the birthday concert of the amazing Catherine Russell, whom many fans know worked with Cyndi in the 1990s. It was a night to remember watching Catherine perform great jazz and blues songs. Of course, our gal Cyndi joined Catherine in four songs - "Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood," "My Baby Just Cares for Me," "Don't Cry No More", and "Time After Time." Sharing some pics. I don't know how to share videos here.

True Colors 40th anniversary video explanation

This is a nice video explanation behind the 40th anniversary celebration of "True Colors." Hope we get more videos, especially of Cyn talking about the creative process behind the album. I love geeking out on behind the scenes creative process behind Cyn's projects.

PS: My favorite album of hers is "Hat Full of Stars." I hope it gets a proper re-issue and ultimately gets its much-needed acknowledgment.

Cyndi Lauper - "The River Cried" (1986)

In celebration of the 40th anniversary of the True Colors album, Cyndi just shared an unreleased track titled “The River Cried.” Her vocals are powerful, as always. The vibe reminds me a bit of Voices Carry blended with a 60s pop sensibility, which makes it a really interesting listen.

Cyndi photoshoot context?

Cynful cheers to everyone! Sharing this photo of Cyn, most likely taken in 1988, perhaps around the time of the MTV Island Giveaway. Anyone knows the context of this photoshoot? Was it tied to her "Kindred Spirits" album, revamped into "A Night to Remember "? 🧐

Cyndi directed her 1994 video, "Hey Now...Girls Just Wanna Have Fun."

This week in 1994, Cyndi released her reggae‑inspired remake, “Hey Now… Girls Just Wanna Have Fun.” It became a global hit (UK #4, France #3) even though it stalled on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 at #87. The track was also featured in the hit film "To Wong Foo." Cyndi directed the music video herself — remarkable for the time — and spotlighted incredible drag queens throughout the visual. Attached is a scene from the video, filmed in front of the Unisphere in Queens, New York City.

Cyndi at the "My First Night Without You" music video (1989)

She had a very seductive look and image during this time in 1989. Her vocals for "My First Night Without You" were superb! Too bad it only peaked at #62 at the Billboard Charts and #53 at the UK Charts, despite the success of the first single, "I Drove All Night." "My First Night Without You" fared well in other countries in Latin America and in the Philippines. What follow-up single to "I Drove All Night", off "A Night to Remember" album would you pick as an alternate?

Cyndi with Billy Joel at the 1988 Grammy Awards

Cyndi's style is quite beautifully wild here! Leopard print dress, leopard-inspired eye-shadow, and an up-swept crimped hair! Cynfully fabulous!

Cyndi Lauper at the NY Music Awards, 1988

Photo of Cyndi when she was awarded the Best Female Rock Vocalist during the 1988 New York Music Awards in Beacon Theater. Thought of sharing this coz of this iconic hairstyle representing that critical period in her career, in between "Vibes" (movie) / "Hole in my Heart" (single) and "A Night to Remember " album.
