Loose input jack

Loose input jack

I know there are plenty of tutorials online about tightening loose input jacks. However, I’m not sure they apply to my specific situation or hardware.

I have a new guitar which I plugged into an amp for the first time yesterday. I immediately noticed extreme looseness with the cable. It would move so much that the signal would cut in and out. I removed the backing plate to inspect the inside of the guitar body. I saw that the input jack is floating freely. Perhaps this is normal? I also removed the set screws for the outer jack plate, but it did not want to come free. I’m guessing that I need to free this mechanism to get at some kind of nut that maybe needs to be tightened? I didn’t want to force anything and damage the equipment.

I appreciate any guidance or suggestions.
