A Week of Eating and Lifting in Tokyo

Vegan dining in Tokyo has come a really long way in the last twenty five years. I used to lose weight over a week or two stay but now there are so many options, I can’t even go to them all. You’re still going to want to bring your own protein if that’s a priority for you, I packed shake mixes and Builder Bars. Highlights in order were Plant More (Shinjuku), CoCo Ichibanya (curry chain), Vegan Bistro Jangara (ramen, good lord), Veggie Sushi Japan (Taito-ku), Ain Soph Soar (Ikebukuro, could have gone here a half dozen times, so much to choose from), and T’s TanTan (more ramen). Even the airplane food was alright!

I got one lift in at the Tokyo Metropolitan Gym in Sendagaya. It’s a solid affordable option but it can get crowded, and I knew to bring my own belt for weighted dips and pull ups. I went to Gold’s Gym to do deadlifts. More expensive, but I’m not sure I could do deadlifts at the other place.

Turning 50 soon, vegan for nearly 30 years

Still lifting heavy, PRs in deadlift, barbell row, and weighted dips this week. No TRT ever.

I’ll pick up the main demon book, probably hold off on the new OSE edition, and I’m trying to take a good look at the rest.
