Losi Promoto SM: How to Make Swapping Between SM and MX Wheels Easier?

Hi everyone!

I’ve just received my Losi Promoto SM. Following the advice I’ve seen on YouTube and Reddit, I bought a separate set of MX wheels so I can enjoy the best of both worlds: asphalt and dirt.

To make swapping between the two setups as quick and easy as possible, I bought complete hub assemblies for the MX wheels, so I would only have to swap the wheels between the MX and SM setups.

However, removing the stock front SM wheel is quite a hassle. You have to remove the brake caliper and then the brake disc because the caliper gets stuck inside the rim.

I’ve seen a few YouTubers mention this issue, but I haven’t been able to figure out which Vitavon part I need to buy to avoid this problem.

Does anyone have any advice or recommendations on how to solve this?

Thanks in advance for your help!

Questions about speed pinions, motor heat, and bigger tires on Arrma - Kraton 1/5 and Talion 1/7

Hey everyone,

I wanted to share my experience and ask a few questions to the Arrma community because I’m still trying to fully understand these machines.

Back in January, I bought a Kraton 8S EXB 1/5. Honestly, I absolutely loved the experience. The machine is incredible, the power, the stability, the overall build quality… everything impressed me.

I enjoyed it so much that I recently decided to buy a Talion 1/7 as well.

For context, I also own other RCs, including 1/8 buggies and truggies for track driving, so I’m not completely new to RC. But Arrma vehicles are a bit different from what I’m used to, especially regarding gearing, temperatures, and overall stress on electronics.

I have a few questions that have been on my mind:

First of all, regarding the optional speed pinion included with Arrma vehicles. Do you recommend to install it?

If I install it, is there a real risk of the motor running too hot or wearing out prematurely?

On my Kraton 8S 1/5, the motor already gets pretty warm after around 20 minutes of driving, so I’m a bit cautious about pushing things too far. Do you suggest any fan upgrade?

Now regarding the Talion 1/7 specifically:

  • Is it really recommended to install the speed pinion?
  • If I install it, will the motor heat up significantly more?
  • And what happens if I install bigger tires on the Talion 1/7 while also using the speed pinion?

These may sound like small questions, but keep bothering me because I want to enjoy the vehicles while keeping them reliable long term. TThank you for your feedback 🙏

Is a fresh Meteor Dragoon 7-70 actually better than a worn 7-60 Meteor?

Hey everyone,

I wanted to ask the community for some opinions about wear on Meteor Dragoon and how it affects performance over time.

I won a local tournament on February 21st using a brand new Meteor Dragoon 7-70 Level.

Since then, my Meteor has obviously seen a lot of battles and is now pretty worn down.

Later on, I switched to using it on 7-60 Level instead of 7-70, but honestly… I’m not sure what should I do.

What’s confusing me is that my Meteor Dragoon still dominates a lot of meta Beys, especially like Silver Wolf 9-70 Freeball, but I just cannot consistently beat Wizard Rod 1-60 Hexa.

Here are my current top 6 Beys:

Main deck

  • Meteor Dragoon 7-60 Level
  • SharkScale 1-70 Low Rush
  • Hovern Wyvern 9-60 Rush

Side beys deck

  • Aero Pegasus 1-50 Jolt
  • Wizard Rod 1-60 Hexa
  • Cobalt Dragoon 9-60 Elevate

So now I’m wondering:

Would buying a brand new Meteor Dragoon and running it again on 7-70 help me more against matchups like Wizard Rod compared to my current worn Meteor on 7-60?

I’m asking because I often read people saying that a worn Meteor Dragoon on 7-60 is actually better than a fresh one on 7-70.

What do you guys think?

Thank you so much. 🙏

Hello,

I'm hesitating between Kraton or Talion 6S:

Arrma Kraton 6S V6 → 550€

Arrma Talion 6S EXB → 789€

So we're talking about ~240€ difference.

I already own a Kraton 8S.

This one would be more for regular sessions, something a bit more manageable but still fun.

The Kraton price seems like a really good deal, but I'm wondering if the Talion is worth the extra money in terms of experience.

Thank you for your feedback.
