Frustration with Parts Availability

A few weeks ago, I noticed that the rear air suspension in my '23 edrive40 MSport was starting to leak down. It got to where I'd park the car at 6pm, and 13 hours later, the rear would be sitting on the bump stops. It'd pump back up when I started the car, but as soon as I parked and turned it off... Down it went, very slowly.

I even noticed on a Saturday that the left side seemed to leak down faster than the right side. Either way, off to the dealer for repair it went. That was Monday, June 29th.

A technician diagnosed the left rear strut needing replacement. A little bit of looking into it shows that the right rear strut, part number 37105a49dc6, is readily available, but the left rear strut, part number37105a49dc5, the one I need, is on backorder with no ETA for delivery. I guess that's just my luck.

In the interim, I've been loaned an X3, which, I can't deny is a pretty decent automobile - I just wish it was electric.

Anyway, is there any way of knowing when this part will be available?

How do I use Tesla superchargers?

Earlier today, I tried to use this Tesla supercharger. Beforehand, in the BMW app, I created a Shell Recharge account, and I associated a payment method with the account. Once I got to the supercharger, I connected my NACS adapter to the charger, and connected my car.

The screen in my car displayed the fast charge state-of-charge bar, and some yellow animations, along with the word, "Calculating." It continued to "calculate" for a few minutes before turning the animations red and displaying a failure error message. There was no charge to my payment method either of the times I tried.

I suppose I can try with the Tesla app next time... But I figured I'd ask before I made a new account. See what the community has to say.

This past Tuesday was a dreary, rainy day in my region. Part of my commute is along a rarely traveled state highway in the middle of nowhere, and since I was a little later for work than I usually like being, I had my i4 edrive40 in Sport mode in spite of the wet weather. As I was zipping along, enjoying my drive, I came upon a right curve with some standing water on the road.

I turned right slightly to follow the curve... And it felt like my car started to oversteer - felt like the back-end was starting to come out around me, push the nose into the curve. I backed off the throttle, and I turned the wheel to the left to keep following the curve. And as my wheel passed the straight-ahead point and into the left, I felt the car _adjust_ itself somehow.

I'm not sure how to describe it, unfortunately. Power delivery changed - the force pushing me into my seat wobbled and settled into a different direction that didn't quite match the curve I was turning through. The body of the car gave a slight wibble-wobble around me - and then, with my wheel turned just a little bit to the left, it felt like the car was "locked in" on a path on rails, like it was flying, airborne, almost.

I'm convinced that some kind of driver assistance program activated and did something like selective braking or modulating motor power or altering power steering assist effort or _something_ - I'm convinced the car essentially drifted itself. Cause, it wasn't like ordinary traction control where it just cuts power when the driven wheels spin, and that yellow light didn't light up, either. Either way, as the curve came to an end and the rear of the car settled back down, it took a small amount of additional effort to get the steering wheel back to the center. I overshot the center and steered back to the right, which made the car wobble again, before I centered the wheel again and proceeded along with my commute as a big ole grin erupted accross my face.

I _swear_ my i4 drifted itself. It's the only conclusion I can come to. Cause, sure enough, I was countering oversteer, and the steering wheel was "locked into" like a virtual groove that I had to overcome to straighten back out again.

Have any of y'all had something similar happen?
