Pond residents the white cloud mountain minnows enjoying what was on the menu.
I used my new endoscopic camera attachment for Android to watch my minnows during feeding time. Brine shrimp was on the menu!
They seem happy to have joined the existing school of 'wild'/ regular variants. I now have 6 regular and 12 gold. The rest I'll leave to nature. Definitely an upgrade for them and plenty of mosquito larvae for them to snack on!
Hey folks, just wanted to join in on sharing my pride and joy with this sub! I'm pretty pleased with how it's doing.
I used the following:
- 3/4 whisky barrel from Etsy (BarrelCreations1)
- pond liner
- found rocks and gravel sourced from our garden
- hornwort (weighted and sunken)
- frogbit for surface cover
- some watercress from my wildlife pond
- water mint
- fibre optic plant
- Iris Louisiana
- gardener's garters grass
- water chestnut
- bog arum
- 2 x logs to allow wildlife to crawl out
- clean up crew: great ramshorn snails and 1 dusky marsh snail (from one of the plants?)
- 2x air stones
I also have a school of white cloud mountain minnows both wild and gold variants.
Happy pond keeping!
2 weeks into wildlife pond keeping: got some interesting snails both aquatic and terrestrial, a newt made an appearance during week 1 (I rushed to take a photo but only managed to capture its body and tail), and plenty of bugs showing up.
