From 'having a beef' to 'being able to bear'

I didnt see anyone mention this in this subreddit. Are we aware of the fact that the original name of the restaurant while Mickey ran it was called The Beef was in direct reference to the traumatic family that they grew up in which everyone 'having a beef' with each other, yes, so much so that this was their 'normal'.

However, when Carmy taking over the business and successfully transforming it for the better is his testimony to his growing out of that chaotic mold, something for which he had 'to bear it all', aka, the trauma.

Early stages

i wasnt sure what to make. i never know what to say really. i feel like everyone is watching me when i take the brush in my hand. the only time i feel like i know what im doing is when i squeeze the acrylic paint onto the painting palette, seeing all the color, uniform, shiny, full, overloaded. looking at it i feel confident.

i knew i wanted to write 'i will not become my dad' but then the sentence turned into this, which i like it even more. but i also dont like how the blue, didnt do well with the turquoise when they were in the same letter. blue went too far back, lost in the background. got lost in turquoise's brightness.

any tips on how to make the blue pop out?

i like the idea that it is 'not good enough to make a point and confidently show the middle finger to someone who'd judge it as 'too amateurish/childish''. i mean, trying to force two colors into a letter is an overkill, overambitious and messy; like a child would put the non matching colored legos together to make a block and say that 'its a blue tower' and you have to tolerate it while your eyes are hurting. i want to accept that defeat. but still be getting my point across.

all tips welcome

The difference Swans' sound: Today vs Early years

I became familiar with Swans through their more recent albums; starting off with The Seer and onwards. Whenever I sit down to listen to their earlier albums, I cannot ever finish one song. It has so much to do with the sound quality, for one. But there are so many albums from that time with way better, more crisp, more "bass heavy", fuller, richer sounds, just like they do in the albums that they put out in their former years. So I assume that, maybe they did not have access to the best studio equipment, or maybe, the more "thinner", more "treble forefronted" sounds were in fashion, late 80s-early 90s. I am thinking of major names like MJ, Prince, Queen, Elton John, Madonna from back then. The sound then has a rather "weak" quality to it. I also feel like it may have to do with analog synths and their more fuller, weightier sound going out of fashion with the emergence of digital synths during that time.

I have also read and heard (in some podcasts and youtube vids) that "they did not essentially know how to 'make music'. So instead, they went into the studio, and played as 'MUCH' at they cold". Given you rent the studio to make a record, I can only image that they went in and with the anxiety of 'not feeling adequate' kicking in, they did their own way of 'rocking out'.

Added, we all know that Gira's outlook on life is pretty macabre; he gets into international amount of trouble, comes to hate the youth-culture of his era, and new york, where he settles after all that is a sh*thole at the time with drugs and gang violence. Seeing nothing worthy to be hopeful and to aim for in life, he and his crew just see the equipment, the lyrics, the sound, the studio, their time and effort as things that are unworthy, discardable, worthless, meaningless, insignificant... and hence, they don't work too much on the sound quality in the post either. Despite having had put so much energy into it all.

Further down the line, the siblings.

According to my research, the three siblings have a minimum of 3 bil in their bank accounts after the sale of Waystar Royco.

Kendall is definitely going to make a stupid startup with that, stupid because it will be something that's already in the market, in the exact way, and the PR is going to be terrible, as it has been with every entrepreneurial thing we've seen him done. Eventually he will hit rock bottom, only for Naomi or someone pretty similar to Naomi, to save him when he is there. If both get clean, which I dont know if it will happen, will be the best thing that happens to Ken.

Roman, I'm more worried about: he might become a pornstar (if Gerri shares his dpics) and say that it's his choice. He might be a guest on a podcast and tell that becoming a pornstar was the best thing that happened to him, only for us to find having offed himself the other day, in his Las Vegas hotel room.

Shiv won't sacrifice anything to help save her brothers-- nor that she has to (I mean, does anyone do that in this family) and will perhaps become a blue politician, advocating for mental health, and how it ruined her family. I don't know. Most probably Tom will sabotage Shiv's plan to this new chapter and will succeed in it in certain ways, which will be enough to break Shiv's spirit, independent from the entire outcome of her career.

What do you think? What would be the most realistic path to helping all of them? What combo of their acquaintances would help each one and in what order? How likely is it that they would get back on their feet, considering none of them would consider living a quite life in a mansion in Southern Italy as a long term (longer than 3 months max) solution? What would be the stabilities that they need? What would more stables lives for each one of them look like?

My takes on what would NOT be longterm solutions are:

  1. Gerri and Roman (re)couple.

  2. Shiv gets pregnant with Nate's baby and they become a couple. Obviously in this scenario Tom and she are done. Except for their kid, which Tom subtly yet successfully takes away from Shiv.

  3. Kendall becomes a triathlon athlete and practices swimming in the Hudson river in the mornings.

The Only Match to Roman's Wit Would Have Been Stewy

No one can match to Roman's vocab, dry-bone humor, jackass-ery, borderline criminal insults, and overall perfect grasp and delivery of the American (yes) language. But if anyone were to come close to that, although he's not as quick in utterance to Rome, Stewy would have been the only one at that, and it's a shame we didn't get to see more of that. Change my opinion, which you can't, so, go cry your mom about it, whom I had s*x with last night, and the night before that.
