Went to do Tequatl really quick for my weekly a few days ago on a whim, and then today just noticed I had an ascended weapon chest sitting in my inventory that I didn't notice until today from the fight. How lucky am I?

I've been looking up the ascended weapon drop chances from World Bosses and everywhere just says "it's so low it's not worth considering". Considering I never really even bother with world bosses unless it's a weekly and have killed maybe 3 in the last 2 months... how lucky actually am I?

(Yes, this is a bit of a humble brag, I'm super hyped because my first ascended weapon from the wizard's tower is for a build I haven't been using and this is my second ascended weapon ever since I'm basically new. I took the staff, it looks awesome, though I changed the stats on it to my new build and it looks even awesomer now.)

Jumping puzzles are my favorite content in the entire game, and are *mostly* awesome, but Searing Ascent... just... wat?

Coming back to the game after a good 7 year break, so I'm going through all the content post HoT as a new player basically, and of course I'm doing all (or at least most of) the jumping puzzles along the way because of how awesome they are, but then I hit Searing Ascent...

After spending 15 minutes just wandering around the very beginning even trying to figure out what it was, I watched a video of it and audibly said "what the fuck."

Please someone tell me that's not the direction they take jumping puzzles for the content going forward. It feels less like a jumping puzzle and more like an exercise in how speed runners have their buddies that do nothing but spend hours finding bugs and exploits and places to clip through.

Needless to say, I haven't done it yet.

This game needs a Milandre's Accord type mode so badly. Decided to come back to the game after being away for 7ish years, and the excessive QoL is actively hostile to doing a replay on a new character and it's really taking the wind out of my sails.

I've been away for so long that I feel like I'm basically a new player, but since I have multiple mounts and gliders and so much stuff unlocked on my account, it feels like the game is continuously telling me "no you don't want to do that, nah you don't need to play that, nah you can just skip that" and feels actively hostile to just wanting to replay the game at a casual place.

I want to redo the maps and take my time and earn things again and just... live in the world, but everything is just pushing me saying GO GO GO GO. I'm already level 7 after just the first heart, I can't unequip my glider so if I accidentally hold space too long I'll ruin vista points and jumping puzzles... it's like the game just doesn't want me to play.

I was so excited to come back and enjoy a new character like a new player before integrating my new character back into my account as a new main, but... after an exciting first 15 minutes the reality of this insanely excessive QoL of just rushing me to where my first main was is just taking away all the fun.

And the worst part is Guild Wars 1, a much older game actually supports this. I can hop over there and start a new Milandre's Accord character and it'd be like I'm a brand new player and I can have a blast rediscovering the world.

I don't want to drop a ton of money on a new account, but that feels like the only option, and at that point... it just makes me not wanna play.

Sorry, end rant.

But for anyone who made it this far down... any options for making a new character actually feel like a new character? Do I really need to go drop $100 bucks on a new account just to replay the game fresh? Are there any plans for Anet adding that mode to GW2 like they did the much older and lesser played game? (still weird that game got the option but this one didn't)

Edit: I'm a big dum dum, using the Apply Color Enhancements section of the NVIDIA Control Panel I was able to get coloring very close so they nearly match. I wish I could figure out how to do it in the monitor settings, but that's pretty cool I got them close, so I think that rules out that one of the monitors is bad, I just had no clue that the same monitor's default panels could be that different that I'd need to have settings that are 30-40% different when having the exact same settings in the monitor's control panel thingy whatever you call it with the little nub at the bottom w/ the UI.

So I'll leave the post up so people can laugh at me being a dum dum, but I also want to ask, what's the best way to be going about this set the monitors' calibrations? Is there some software that's recommended out there? Should I be focused on calibrating via software, or through the monitor's UI? Like, nvidia/windows calibration first and then the monitor UI, or the other way around? Didn't see any dum dum guides for calibration or best practices for getting two OLED monitors to look the same in the FAQ, and google's just like "here's some dumbass AI blah blah" so figured maybe this post can now just be asking what's the best method/practices to get these two looking identical.

OG dum dum question:

Pic folder linked near bottom.

I've been trying to tinker with settings for awhile now but haven't been able to get them to match. Apparently I can't upload/paste pictures in this post from my phone it would seem, but basically:

  • New monitor's colors feel more vibrant, though darker ones feel less defined. For example, in spotify the black borders look exactly the same on both monitors, but the darker not-quite-black for the content looks nearly black on the new one, but more defined grey on the old one.
  • White text on darker colors seems to pop more on the new monitor
  • Blacks look exactly the same, like a big pure black picture spread over both looks exactly the same
  • Pure white does not. White on the old monitor looks more washed out sliding towards grey with the new monitor having bright whites.
  • I'm not using HDR, not a fan of it outside of games.

Basically the older monitor looks a bit more washed out, which makes me worry it's degraded from use, though I've only had it for a year and turn it regularly and after 30 mins and do the pixel cleaning every day. It's only got like 1200 hours of use so would be surprised.

Is one or the other faulty? If this is just standard panel differences, what are the best ways to calibrate them to get them to be the same?

Looks like I can't do picture posts here, but I uploaded some pictures from my phone with the old monitor on the left and the new on the right. https://picallow.com/oled-2/?usp_success=2&post_id=642595&form_id=27

Probably should have used some more colorful pictures, but I think they at least show the differences I'm talking about. Final pic is done with the windows night light on which makes the differences more pronouned.
