Going back to LG

I switched from an LG OLED to a Samsung S89C QD-OLED a couple years ago when I moved from 65” to 77”. I loved the Samsung, absolutely amazing picture, colors, brightness and blacks. No need for Dolby Vision with this light output.

Then just after two years, the Samsung had a board and or screen failure (super bright vertical green line). Complete loss - over two grand for a tv that’s is useless after only two years!

My 65 LG is still in daily use after more than ten years - no issues.

Never again leaving LG. I would recommend getting an extended warranty for any Samsung OLED.

Learning about OLED

Hello everyone I am new to OLED learning about it. I picked up an S90F that I know is QD-Oled and I really like it so far. When there is white text on a black background there seems to be a faint glow around the letters. I just figured the faint glow wouldn't be there as each pixel is self emitting. I am not sure if it's some illusion as I wear glasses. Is there something I should know or have wrong with the TV setting?

Thanks in advance. The community doesn't allow attachments so words are the best I can do.

Switching from Alienware 32 4K QD-OLED AW3225QF to 77’ C5. Will the quality drop be vast?

My son is big and wants to spend more time with me so I don’t wanna be in an office without him. Moving PS5 pro gaming to living room so he can sit with me on the I couch and play with me. Just curious if the quality will be a vast change?

Just got an LG C5 and while it looks nice and is definitely an upgrade from my old TV, I'm not exactly feeling blown away just yet.

Everywhere I've seen OLED TVs so far, they have looked amazing. Mine just looks pretty nice. Is it just a matter of tweaking settings or something? My main use is watching streaming content (Netflix, Amazon, etc) and PS5 games.

I checked the FAQ hoping to find a checklist or something (turn off all the lights in the room, use movie mode for TV, gaming mode for PS5, etc.), but didn't see anything.

Thought OLED was overrated until I switched

Honestly, when I first started hearing about OLED a couple years ago, I thought that it was overhyped primarily due to the price of OLED TVs and monitors. But now, there was finally one on sale for like 325 USD, so I decided to get it to see if the hype was real. And, as the title says, I’ve been blown away. The specific monitor is the Samsung Odyssey G50SF, which, as I understand, isn’t the highest quality monitor on the market, but it still blows the IPS panel(s) I’ve been using out of the water.

I do see the QD-OLED purple-screen-thing when it’s bright in the room, but that’s such a small thing that’s easy to overlook, especially when gaming. I’m sure it’s sort of cliche, but now that I’ve seen the “inky blacks” of OLED, I can’t unsee the backlight bleed from IPS panels. It’s not just blacks, though. Colors pop more, and whites look more white, and colors look more color-y, if that makes sense. I’d also like to say that things looks sharper, even though this monitor is the same size and resolution as my old one, but I could just be delusional Idk.

TL;DR, if you can afford it and primarily game on your machine, it’s worth it. It looks amazing when you’ve just been using non-OLED panels.

Should I still pick an Oled after this?

I purchased an LG OLED C1 television, and it has been the most impressive TV I've ever owned. However, after three years, some white stains, have begun to appear at the top of the screen, like if they were melting into the display.

I was hoping to get your thoughts on whether this issue is still prevalent with OLED technology, or if it has been resolved or become quite rare.

I am unable to place my confidence in an error that is characteristic of technology.

Tv Claim

My oled55cx6la had a nasty fall last week and cracked the display , luckily i have accidental damage cover which includes new for old.

They got back to me today saying they can offer me £800 or the exact same tv brand new sealed but is around 6 years old.

They said usually they would have to upgrade it to the latest equivalent but their supplier has this tv in stock brand new but i find that hard to believe and think they are bluffing to keep the payment low.

Does this seem fair? As LG and the insurance co have said the equivalent model would be the 55 OLED C6.

Stuck as what to do now , i have questioned what about the warranty as surely if its brand new it will have the manufacturer warranty.

Doubts about XG27AQMWG

Hi, I’m sorry to bother you all but I need some advice. A week ago I bought an Asus xg27aqwmg. Being my first oled Monitor I was quite impressed and I liked it a lot. But in the research for the monitor I couldn’t avoid the whole color banding problem post.

I have made some tests. First to tell this is march 2026 batch and it works very good for except ONE LINE that shows even playing in games like SH2. I have done several pixel cleanings, updated to latest firmware and used for about a week and it’s not better.

But, is it enough to request RMA? Here are the pics. You can see that particular line just above the white letters and is horizontal.

Also at the character face level at the SH2 pic and in the indiana Jones pic.

My worst fear is that if i proceed with RMA an even worse monitor will come by because this has decent banding besides that pesky line.Picture

Bad Image Retention LG G6

Anyone have any insight into this? Opening up Firefox on my PC is met with large smeary messes of my home screen that disappear after 30 seconds or so (And appear instantly when met with bright objects). It's one thing to be noticing this when using the browser, it's another when I start noticing it when playing video games. My previous OLED, the LG C2 did not have any kind of issues relating to this.

Did my OLED TV burn out?

I've had an S95F OLED TV for about a month now, and today something very strange happened. I hardly ever use it, but in my free time I like to play video games, so I started playing the Halo Infinite campaign, but I noticed something strange: on my TV, there were a series of small squares distributed across the entire screen.

I was very scared and thought my television had burned out, but something didn't add up; the small squares didn't correspond to any logo or the HUD of any game. I turned off the Xbox thinking it was a problem with the HDMI cable, but those little squares were still there. I turned off the TV, somewhat disappointed, thinking it had broken down so quickly, but when I turned it on again they had disappeared. I started the game again since they were easily visible there, but they didn't appear either.

Does anyone know what might have happened?

Toy car hit my brand-new LG G5 (77”). Tiny dark mark now shows on solid colors — permanent OLED damage, and will it spread?

A few weeks into owning an LG OLED G5 77” and I found a tiny mark on the screen. I’m fairly sure my 6-year-old tapped it with a metal toy car.

Here’s what I’ve checked so far. On a black screen under raking light it looks like a small bright, slightly raised scratch. It does not wipe off at all — I tried a dry microfiber, then distilled water, then screen-cleaning fluid, and nothing changed. The telling part: on full-screen solid red and blue, the spot stays dark, with a few subpixels clearly not emitting (photos attached — black with side light, plus the red and blue fields). The subpixels all around it look intact, no black blotch or halo, at least so far.

So it looks like the impact reached the emissive layer, not just the outer glass or coating. My questions: does this read as permanent panel damage to you, or could it still somehow be surface-level? My main worry is whether a small impact spot like this can spread over time on OLED — encapsulation breach, moisture ingress — or whether these usually stay stable. And beyond just monitoring it, is there anything actually worth doing? I already know accidental damage isn’t covered and that a panel swap costs as much as the TV.

At normal viewing distance it’s completely invisible — it only shows with my nose on the panel. I’m just trying to understand what to expect long-term. Thanks.

Longevity of new OLED panels ? Bad experience with my cx is making me lean toward neo qled for my next upgrade

I have always been an enthusiast for oled screens ever since i got my galaxy s2 i was dreaming of getting an oled tv when the technology is available and affordable for me and thus was my first oled tv purchase in 2020 the LG CX and i was very happy with it and so careful while using it as I dont have any burn in after all those years, but sadly it has been developing the common faliure of dead pixels around the edges right after the warranty ended , which makes me not wanting to go for an oled for my new tv and leaning more towards the neo qled by Samsung, what are your thoughts about current OLED panels is there any improvements regarding longevity? I haven’t seen any reaffirming statement from LG or atleast recognizing this oxidation/sealing problem that causes the dead pixels after years of use

OLED Power Cycling

Hello all,
A couple of nights ago, my wife turned our TV off at night like normal, and the next morning the thing was broken. Now my Samsung OLED is stuck in a power cycle displaying red flashes as seen in the photos. Then it just shuts off. Has anyone seen this before? I’ve tried draining power and turning it back on, unplugging all HDMI cords so it’s just power, and unplugging and plugging it back in. Any input is great, thanks!

Used LG C3 48" pricing

Hello,

I'm looking at a used LG C3 48" for sale.

Seller states it has a dead pixel - the image looks like it may be more than one pixel: https://imgur.com/a/SS43ZTe

It is listed for $500, but I think that might be high considering a new LG B5 48" is currently $600.

What do you think would be a fair price for this TV?

Thank you!

ASUS ROG PG34WCDN Bubbles Under Screen

I got this new monitor back in late April. My first OLED. It has these tiny “bubbles” behind the black-shield (see video). They don’t affect the image and aren’t really visible unless the screen is black and the room has light behind me…so it doesn’t really hurt anything a great deal, but it bothers me that it's there on such an expensive panel.

Is this normal for OLEDs?

Also, it’s not the screen protective film…I definitely peeled that off.

Bright OLED Monitor Recommendations

I’m looking for a monitor for video watching, and tracing images for homework. So I thought i would want an OLED/QD-OLED/anything OLED. My budget is under $350, no bigger than 32in but no smaller than 20in, and needs to be above 350 nits. Any Recommendations?

Philips OLED 760 ANY GOOD?

Selling my TCl tv and looking to upgrade, I'm seeing the Philips 760 for 989 euros, I know it's the entry level of their line-up, but is it any good compared to say the LG B5, Samsung S85F & S90F?

I don't want to spend 989 euros now and 3 years later when it breaks down because it's entry level, I'll have to buy another TV.

Thanks your opinions and suggestions.

My S90D suddenly died after only 1 yeah and half

As title tells, I've purchased that S90D 55" on 2024 october and was using it on an average of about 1 hour a day, mainly tv, apps and console gaming. Until yesterday night everything working fine, this morning tried to turn it on with remote and nothing, the little red light is steady as usual, it flashes for a couple of seconds when I try to turn it on but screen remains black, tried it to turn it on with the little power button but nothing happened... tried the usual power cycle... nope, it just died.
I don't think it's related to some electric issue from the wall since ps5 and series X connected to the same power strip turn on with no issue.
Refund has already been asked and accepted but it's just a bummer a so expensive and high-end tv failing in a so little time 🤦🏻‍♂️. Anyone here happened the same?
