Help with bitrate for streaming

Hello there!

I have starlink, so my upload speeds can fluctuate a lot.

The minimum that I have seen my upload speed be, is 16mbps, and the maximum is upwards of 30mbps. The average is somewhere in between that. (I've been tracking it at different times of day via Ookla speed test)

I want to stream in 1080p @60FPS to YouTube. My video encoder is currently AMD HW H.264 (AVC)

I play fast-paced games (like FPS), and I used to stream at 6000kbps, but I realized that was too slow, as the quality of the stream was low.

YouTube recommends streaming at 12k kbps for my setup. But people also say to give yourself +50% headroom.

So my question is, do you think it would be okay to stream at 12k kbps for me?

Or do you think I should try 10k Kbps or something first.

I just don't want it to look pixelated/blurry if 10k is too low.

Any damage differences between Mosin and SVD?

Just wondering if the Mosin did more damage, or could one-shot a high-tier helm or something compared to svd.

I could unlock both, but only had a chance to use SVD.

If there's no damage differences, then I can only imagine SVD would be better in the majority of situations due to a 10-round mag

Help! I lose internet most days for around ~5 minutes

Hello there! Hoping someone can help.

I've been using starling for over a year, but there's been a constant issue that I've run into. Which is:

On most days (at least a lot), I'll stop getting WiFi for 2-5 minutes. And then it'll come back on, by itself, with no issues, until the next time it goes away for 2-5 minutes.

This typically happens late at night or early morning (anywhere between midnight to 8am)

I've never noticed it happening between 1-11pm

On the starlink app, it says it's misaligned by 9°. Which I've seen should be an okay amount to leave it at?

There are no obstructions. It is stationary.

The main reason why this is so annoying is because I make content and play videogames. So sometimes I'll cut off while streaming, which is very annoying, or sometimes I'll be playing a competitive PvP game, and then I'm just forced to go AFK for a few minutes and then come back.

I would like to not have this issue. Could it really be the alignment? I feel like 9° is pretty minor, and my starlink is a little awkward to get to/move, but can be done if necessary.

Apart from that I'll always have upwards of 200mbps download (can go to 400+) and upwards of 14mbps upload (can go to 40)

Thanks for any and all replies

Edit:

I just found out that I can go to "events" in the app.

Mostly just says "device switching Wifi band"

But, around the time it would've most recently cut out, it says

Starlink booting

And then

Public IP changed

Does it make sense to switch from a Condenser mic, to a supercardioid dynamic mic?

Hello there!

TLDR: Does it make sense to switch from my HyperXQuadcast (condenser mic) to a supercardioid dynamic mic, so that my keyboard and or mouse noises are quieter.

I stream, record, and make content for videogames.

I know the basics. E.g bring mic closer to face, turn mic gain down and turn windows system sound settings down, use a compressor+limiter+noise gate e.t.c

I have a HyperXQuadcast microphone.

This mic picks up my keyboard click sounds, and some mouse movement sounds (I have a glass mouse pad).

Normally what you use to fix this, is a noise suppressor. The RNnoise suppressor in OBS works great! And it eliminated all of that noise almost flawlessly. Almost.

The flaw with it, and with any noise suppressor I've tried (steelseries sonar ai noise cancellation, amd noise suppression and more), is that if I get loud or excited, the noise suppression technology will make my voice sound very distorted.

Because the noise suppression algorithms thinks me sounding excited, is background noise that is to be removed.

No noise suppression = no distortion

Noise suppression = distortion.

It's not my mic peaking and it's not my gain being too loud.

The next solution is to normally use an expander or noise gate. However, my keyboard clicks // mouse noises sit at around -32db on OBS. Which is how loud my quieter/whispering voices will be.

So if I talk it will sound unnatural and it will continuously modify my voice

I'm not expecting a different type of microphone to magically eliminate all of these sounds, however, if it made the sounds quieter by a significant amount, then I would be able to use noise gates and expanders to silence the quieter noises, without interfering with my voice.

And the idea is that a supercardioid mic, which would attempt to reject more sounds from behind it, would therefore make those keyboard and mouse noises quieter.

There's also a very small chance that with a different microphone, RNnoise suppression would not cause my voice to distort, but I'm not really counting on that one at all.

So does it make sense to switch mics? Or do you think it would be pointless?

Looking for an alternative to RNnoise suppression.

Hello there!

The RNnoise suppression filter within OBS causes my voice to distort and sound very bad, whenever I get a bit loud or excited.

RNnoise suppression off = no distortion sounds

RNnoise suppression on = distortion sounds

I have other filters such as a Limiter and Compressor, all set up properly already.

My microphone is on the correct polar setting and pointing the right way. I have tried turning down it's physical gain before touching any filters, but to no avail. (My microphone is a HyperXQuadcast, so, it is a condenser mic, but I got it many years ago before I knew the difference)

I have also tried putting it very close to my face, or quite a bit away from the keyboard, and it still picks up the sounds.

---

OBS' other noise suppression option (Speex), does not get rid of my keyboard clicks/mouse sounds

I tried Steel series sonar AI noise cancellation, and it caused the same type of distortion

I don't have an Nvidia GPU, but I tried my amd noise cancellation and nothing seemed to change.

I have the VST 2.x plugin, and I am using reafir_standalone to eliminate fan humming noises, which is working, but if I try get it to eliminate impact noises, then it starts cutting off my voice when I talk (cause the keyboard and mouse noises are moderately loud)

I know about krisp but I dont think I'm going to want to pay for something like that.

I've heard about Waves Clarity Vx, which is a one-time payment, rather than a subscription, but I worry that it may also just cause voice distortion.

Would be interested to hear if other people have had similar issues with this, and what your solutions were.

I know it makes sense to do, but I don't super want to go and buy a good-quality dynamic mic, when I know that at least 2 noise suppression filters already work to reduce impact noises, but come with the setback of causing my voice to distort.

Thanks for any and all replies.

Looking for good Dynamic microphone

Hello there!

I make gaming content and I stream.

My current microphone is a HyperXQuadcast, but for the longest time, my voice would frequently come across as distorted.

I recently figured out this was because of RNnoise suppression (which is a filter in OBS).

I have tried other noise suppressions, such as Steel series sonar ai noise cancellation, and my amd GPU noise cancellation.

One of them also causes my voice to distort, and the other one does not suppress noise very well.

---

The noise I am suppressing is my keyboard click sounds, and my mouse sounds. So, impact noises. OBS VST2.x filters work for background noises like humming fans and such. But nothing I have tried has worked to reduce my keyboard clicking or mouse sounds, unless I sacrifice my voice being distorted if I get excited or loud.

---

(And yes, I've also tried setting up a noise gate and expanded but my keyboard clicks and mouse sounds are kinda loud so my voice ends up getting cut off)

(And yes I've also tried reducing my microphone gain before adding any filters)

---

So, I'm looking to get a dynamic microphone, rather than a condenser microphone, so that none of this really ends up being an issue.

My preferences would be for it to be a USB mic (or have USB compatibility), and I would like to be able to tap the top of it to mute/unmute it.

Apart from that I just want it to be good quality and sound good. I already have a boom arm so if it could also fit into the one my HyperXQuadcast fits into, then that would be cool.

Also, LED lights would be cool as well but not really necessary

I'm going to do my own research too, using other Reddit posts and YouTube reviews and such, but also, there's a lot of microphones, so narrowing it down would be cool

Any and all suggestions would be appreciated

Alternatives to RNnoise suppression?

Hello there

I am 100% absolutely certain that RNnoise suppression is the sole cause of my microphone peaking, if I get excited or if I yell.

And I want my microphone to not peak.

So, I need to use something else. Wondering if there's anything that's basically the same thing. Any plugins or anything like that. And I suppose I'll just hope they don't cause peaking in the same way.

I can't remember what it's called but the other default option (low quality, low CPU usage or something) doesn't really seem to do anything.

RNnoise suppression worked great in terms of actually surpressing noise. E.g keyboard clicks or fan sounds. But I also don't want my microphone to peak, so.

Any and all suggestions would be appreciated.

Edit:

Since there are several comments ignoring the fact that I've already stated that the issue is RNnoise suppression, and that I'm certain of that. I'll clarify.

All filters off = no peaking.

All filters on except RNnoise suppression = no peaking.

All filters off except noise suppression = peaking.

Windows volume 100 + microphone gain maxed out, with all filters off = no peaking.

Windows volume 100 + microphone gain maxed out, with all filters off, except noise suppression = peaking

Windows volume 60 + microphone gain minimized with all filters off, except noise suppression = peaking.

Windows volume 60 + microphone gain minimized with all filters on, except noise suppression = no peaking.

The issue is the RNnoise suppression filter.

Looking for a new gaming monitor

Hello there!

My current monitor is experiencing large amounts of ghosting, and also does not really support HDR, so I am looking to upgrade.

What I'm looking for:

2k (1440p)

~27inch

QD Oled (I'm not opposed to regular oled though. Just think QD oled is more realistic for my budget)

Has/supports HDR (1000 nits)

165 or 240Hz (240 is preferred cause it'd be an upgrade)

Good/fast response time. 0.03ms would be good

At least 1 display port and 1 hdmi port

---

My budget is around €500. €600 is probably the maximum.

I'm currently looking at this:

https://www.amazon.co.uk/MSI-273QP-QD-OLED-Gaming-Monitor/dp/B0BSLK4RX3?th=1

Any thoughts on it?

It matches most, of not all of what I'm looking for.

Just wondering if there's any better options that people might recommend.

Help with updating Intel CPU drivers.

Specs:

Intel i5 13600K

AMD RX7900 XTX

AsRockB760M PG Riptide

32GB DDR5 RAM 6,000 MT/S

2TB SSD

---

Hello, I'm having difficulty updating my intel i5 13600K drivers.

I've been trying to play the game Cyberpunk. On Cyberpunk's launcher, it tells me that my intel drivers are outdated, and should be updated.

Cyberpunk also frequently crashes while playing it, with *no* error messages (such as "amd driver timeout" if there was an AMD crash)

I have tried updating them via "intel graphics and drivers installer"

But upon running this app, I got the "Something went wrong" message with the error of:

"No driver was found that can be installed on the current device" with "Installer exit code: 8"

It says installer exit code 8 is due to my CPU not being detected.

I went to device manager -> display adapters and it's just my GPU.

The internet tells me that in order for my CPU to show up there, I would need to enable it in my bios.

Is it absolutely necessary to go into my bios, and enable integrated graphics on my CPU, *just* to *maybe* be able to *then* update my CPU drivers to the latest version? Is that a normal thing to do? I feel like I'm missing something.

Also, I updated my bios to the latest version yesterday, and I enabled xmp which upped my ram speeds from 4200MT/s to 6000MT/s and with both of those things Cyberpunk still gives me the warning, and still frequently crashes.

Edit: I just found an old Reddit post from 3 years ago with 1 comment saying that this/my CPU doesn't have driver's, and that the chipset drivers are supplied via motherboards website. Is this true? Does that mean I've already updated the drivers via the motherboard bios update I did?

Looking for a prebuilt, or integrated PC [Discussion]

Budget is under €1,000

My friend recently bought an integrated PC that came with a monitor, a mouse, a keyboard and the PC.

It had an AMD Ryzen 7 something processor

A AMD Radeon 680m GPU

And 16GB of ram

The cost of this was around €930.

This sounded expensive to me, so I asked Reddit and lots of comments said she got scammed, which I had thought.

She needs a PC/integrated PC (she doesn't really want a laptop) pretty soon for some projects she's working on and for college.

So I'm looking for something either for the same price, but better, or for a lesser price, but the same.

She's currently only using it for work stuff but she does occasionally play games too, (like until dawn). It would be nice if stuff could run nicely.

If you're recommending a PC, it'd be great if you could also recommend any sort of acceptable mouse/keyboard to come along with it, and she does also want a monitor (with speakers).

She does not want to build a pc herself, and she needs one sooner rather than later.

What is wrong with my toe? [M22] [5"8] average weight

A few weeks ago my dog stepped on my toe and it hurt a moderate amount.

I checked it and saw my toe was a bit swollen. I thought nothing of it and assumed it would go away on its own.

I've been cleaning it out anytime I shower.

But it's been ~2 weeks or more, and it's still there. It can hurt a little to walk sometimes. Especially if I'm wearing shoes instead of crocs. (And I wear shoes to walk my dog everyday)

If I push the toenail inward, blood starts to come out either side.

I tried pressing down with quite a moderate amount of pressure on the swollen part underneath the toe (not the scab, the red part), to see if pus came out. But I mainly just saw quite a bit of blood coming from either side of, and beneath the nail. It was quite dark in colour. (A dark red instead of a light red).

Is it okay to keep pushing on it? Is there pus aswell that I'm just not seeing and if I push on it a lot I can get it all out?

Or do I just wait more time?

Give us a "Don't touch my stuff" emote.

Something like "don't touch my stuff" or "don't take that" or "don't loot that".

It would be nice to let people know that I'm going to kill them if they start looting the bastion I killed alone, without having to use my mic.

Looking for games with turrets.

Hello. I'm looking for games with turrets, that aren't ONLY turrets. So, I'm not looking for a tower defense game like BloonsTD, for example.

I'm moreso looking for something like Surroundead. A single player zombie survival game. There are turrets in it already, however zombies don't come and attack your base or anything like that.

Imagine something like DayZ, but where the enemies always come towards you, and you have a turret you can put down and upgrade to defend yourself.

7 days to die is a little too old/clunky/ for my tastes. But quite close to what I'm looking for.

The thing I liked the look of the most was thronefall. However, I'm not generally a fan of only being able to place things in specific places, rather than anywhere.

Another idea of something I'd like is path of exile 2, mainly due to the amount of content, but if it had an engineer class. So I could place walls and turrets and mines.

An older game I used to like a lot was moomoo.io which was a web browser PvP game, but it had a lot of the elements I'm looking for.

Maybe this is a bit vague. Not sure if what I'm looking for exists. Thanks for any and all suggestions though!

Is phrixes in the game yet?

I've beaten crabgantua, lady bee, honeyzabeth, ratsar and Munster Chunk.

The only boss that's listed on an interactive site is Phrixes. But I'm not seeing any information as to his whereabouts. Is he already available to fight? Or will it be an update at some point
