How much should I charge for my first commissions?
Hey everyone, working on my manga/BD project Occulto (Afro-fantasy universe) and just finished this cover — fully colored, 2 characters, detailed armor design, complex hair effects, lighting effects, title lettering included.
I'm about to start taking my first real commissions and honestly have no idea what to charge for something at this level. Trying to avoid underpricing myself right out the gate, but also don't want to overshoot as a newcomer.
What would you consider a fair price range for a cover like this (illustration only vs. with lettering/logo)? Genuinely looking for outside perspective, not fishing for compliments 😅

What do comic writers look for when choosing an artist?
I'm curious about something. For writers who have worked with artists before, what usually makes you choose one artist over another?
Is it mostly the art style, portfolio, communication, previous comic experience, pricing, or something else?
I'd be interested to hear what matters most to you.
