Best speaker to pair with Alexa?

My family uses a dinky Alexa in our kitchen for almost all of our music listening. For my wife’s birthday, I’d like to add a high quality speaker for surround sound. What excellent speaker pairs with an existing Alexa speaker? Or would that sounds strange to have one Alexa speaker and one nice speaker? I would welcome any suggestions.

Cut off part of branch collar on dead stub- how worried should I be?

Yikes. I had a dead stub (2 1/2 years old) on a live oak that I thought was rotting because there was some peeling bark and what I thought was a hole underneath. I had an arborist do a proper cut, which was behind the “hole.” Once I examined the “hole” after the cut, it appears to be the ridge of the forming branch collar popping the bark out of place. I feel sick to my stomach because everything I read says not to cut into this. Will my tree heal from this? Am I over worrying?

Does this need a proper cut?

2 and half years ago an ice storm broke this branch off my live oak tree. The tree company who came for emergency cleanup did an improper cut on this limb. I planned on having a proper cut done later, but I’ve liked hanging things off this stub. If I leave this stub as is, will it eventually cause damage to my tree (such as leaving a hole that rots the main trunk), or can I leave this as is and it will stay like this?

Giving the max gift amount to minors

My father has been giving me and my two very young daughters the max gift amount ($19,000) yearly for the last couple of years; he decided he wants to dole out our inheritance while we really could really use the money. He sends it by a check in the mail and I deposit is all in my bank account. We've talked about doing an ETF transfer, but my daughters do not have their own bank accounts (they are only 1 and 3 years old) and we didn't know how to distinguish that two of the amounts were for my daughters and were concerned for tax purposes that it would appear he was giving me $57,000. Recently I've read about all the theft going on with checks in the mail. Anyone have any advice on how he can safely give me the money while distinguishing that two of the transfers are to my daughters?

Edit: thanks for the responses. I want to clarify the money my father gives to my daughters mostly goes to day care costs right now. I’m not sure all the rules around accounts in their names, but we need access to the money now, not when they are over 18

4 year old screams with many tantrums daily

My 4 1/2 year-old daughter screams and has many tantrums all throughout the day, especially when we’re transitioning such as leaving a place or going to bed. But really it’s all day long anytime we’re prompting her to do something she doesn’t want to. And a lot if the time, it’s over the most trivial thing, and it seems she sometimes sets things up so she has something to be mad about. The blow outs can be huge where the neighbors can probably hear her and wonder what’s wrong.

We read many parenting books, listen to Dr Becky, and I married to the most patient parent ever, but nothing seems to work with her. We expected this would get better by four, but there’s no signs of it relenting.

Does this behavior eventually get better? It’s very exhausting. We also wonder what our daughter‘s personality is going to be like as an older child/adult- anyone want to chime in who has a like this and let me know how it all turned out?

One strange twist to this all is that her daycare has consistently said they have no problems with her and she is well behaved (this is a relief). She says doesn’t like school and says she likes being at home with us- but she acts like a hot mess with us.

How to sleep insomniac 4 year while on vacation?

My four year-old child has trouble going to bed at night. Our current set up at home is that she is in her own room and listens to Yoto cards until late and can play in her room if she wants, which is all baby safe. However, while on vacation when she has to sleep in the same room as us, she won’t go to bed at all and it keeps us up all night and it’s exhausting. Has anyone dealt with this and can offer advice?

Kid friendly makeover place recommendations?

Hello! Going to be visiting my folks in Cincinnati soon with my 4 year old daughter. Both my 78 year old mother and 4 year old are very into hair, dresses, etc (this interest definitely skipped a generation!) Does anyone have recommendations for place that would be a good place to take them to for a kid friendly make-over, kiddie dress shopping, or something like that? Would especially be great if it’s near Anderson Township or Hyde Park. Thanks!
