What are some examples of American individualism?

Okay so I'm watching a video about how America is hyper-individualistic. I moved to this country last year (NYC specifically) and I haven’t really had any experiences that made me feel like people are hyper-individualistic. Does anyone have examples of situations where you’ve felt that way? And if you’ve ever lived in a country where the culture is very different (more collective and close-knit than the US) could you share your experiences?

Need understanding the word "loan" and "lease"

Three of the aircraft are luxury business jets. And within months of getting them, DHS started trying to loan or lease them out to other federal agencies.

My guess is that lease means you lend it to someone for a set time. I don't know what loan means here. Does it mean you're selling it?

Singular vs plural

I'm watching a vlog on Youtube and the person said "We found out that we actually have everything we need. We have an aluminum pan so we can boil water there. And we also have plastic fork and spoon and knife."

Can someone explain why they said pan, fork, spoon, and knife in the singular?

Question for people who learned English as a second language and reached a native-like level

I used the word "native" because I couldn't think of a better word but what I mean is people who can speak English comfortably with native speakers without any issues.

I know there are tons of methods out there when it comes to language learning but I am not sure which ones are the most effective.

My goal is to communicate comfortably with people so I spend most of my time on listening to English.

I guess my questions are:

  1. What methods did you use to get to where you are now? What method worked best for you?

  2. When you practice listening, how did you choose what kind of content to listen to? They say to choose something you're interested in but I feel like I'd only learn English that's specific to that topic. I am into cooking and watch a lot of cooking videos in English but I feel like I am only learning English that's related to cooking rather than the English used in everyday conversations. How did you choose what kind of content to listen to while practicing English?

Anyone know how much jerseys are going for at Upper 90 right now?

I’m thinking about stopping by Upper 90 in Brooklyn or on the UWS. Does anyone know roughly how much jerseys are selling for there right now? I went to the one in Queens and they were around $175.

“How much hair growth do I need before getting waxed?”
“What’s the ideal hair length for waxing?”
“How long should I let it grow before waxing?”
