Getting rid of clothes that no longer fit.
Over the weekend, I purged 4 garbage bags of clothing from my pre-op life. It was so much harder than I anticipated. I didn't anticipate the emotional attachment I had to those clothes. My favorite, go-to top - a green shirt with embroidered flowers and birds. I held onto it for a second to try and justify keeping it - but deep down I knew I won't wear it again. I stood up from the piles of bags, looking at what i accomplished. A purge of my closet and dresser, four bags of clothing that carried me through my most unhealthy moments, going out the door.
Six months post-op, down 71 lbs. It's hard and there are sacrifices, but it's so worth it. (It's also really expensive to replace decades worth of clothing.)
