Work-study campus jobs tips?

I just got my fall and winter work-study approvals a day ago, since I did not realize they had already come out. I have a couple of questions about campus jobs, work-study or not, so if any students who have held campus jobs in the past could provide some insight, that would be great!

- If you did not apply within the week it was posted, are you already at a disadvantage? I saw a post that mentioned some hiring managers don't review resumes and cover letters after a certain date because they have already received a ton of applications within the first few days.

- Are there any specific resume/cover letter tips that would help with standing out?

- Any interview tips as well? I received an interview for a non-work-study campus job a while ago; however, I never heard back </3. I would love to hear specific tips for video interviews, as I tend to struggle with them as well.

- How much do connections matter for these roles? I was debating whether it is worth it to search through LinkedIn to ask people about these positions, but I also don't want to be seen as a nuisance (nor do I have much on my LinkedIn anyway).

Any insight is appreciated!!

As final grades have been coming out, I have been wondering how other people manage their time efficiently. I did manage to get high grades, but I feel like I didn't achieve what I could have due to my scuffed lifestyle. For context, I am in my first year of university!

At the beginning of the school year, my time management was fine; I attended all my classes, studied for all my midterms, and still found time to socialize. As the year got busier, I fell into a habit of skipping all my classes. I then found myself in a continuous cycle of always catching up on these classes a few days before the test. I had at least one or multiple tests every week. To make things worse, I would stay up until sunrise studying and wake up in the afternoons, continuing the cycle of skipping classes.

It honestly sounds depressing, and in hindsight, it really would be if I did not have a strong support system (friends + my partner), who were also chronic night owls.

I feel like my main problems were skipping classes, as there were a ton of fun lectures that I missed out on, as well as free points for participation (which could have boosted my grades to the next grade level). I also felt like I did not get to spend a whole ton of leisure time with my friends and partner; we would rarely go on dates or hangouts outside of campus. However, we would all frequently study together.

I would really like to fix this, or make it better, before I begin my second year (routine, effectively prioritizing what work needs to be done, work-life balance). I have a lot of extracurriculars lined up next year, so I am only going to get busier :C.

All tips are greatly appreciated C: !!
