The ending to this game was a shocker. You will never have seen this happen before. This is what happens when you don't cash a check.

Bruno's Pizzeria Tournament starts Tuesday... October 13th. Prerequisite to playing..must be a member, who has attended AT LEAST THREE EVENTS. Seating is limited this year. We usually get huge numbers. Only dealing with the huge numbers for Anniversary Tournament next month.

There will be 32 seats. Entry is $10 adult/teen. $5 for ages nine and under. Tournament continues Wednesday October 14. Then October 20th. October 21st, if necessary.

15 seats already confirmed. Others will be confirming quickly. Last year we gad about 50 players. Broken into two categories.... 'The Casuals '' and 'The Experienced.'

Casuals will be players 1400-1500 and under. 'Experienced' will be everyone else. We have a lot of players over 2000+.

Friendly Tournament. It's not that serious. Not a rated tournament.

After dealing with an early Nor'easter...they usually don't happen in September... this may not bode well in the coming months...we try to resume our events.

This past Friday, with the storm in the air, there was a surprisingly good turnout at Joe's Pizza. One of our 8 year old prodigies made an appearance. Proceeded to whup all kinds of butt. I was out of town, but i was told l, "Jesus...he's good. Really good." I KNOW. LOL

This evening we have our weekly 'Combo' events. Picked up a few boardgamers and card gamers the last few weeks. Things should be poppin' tonight.

We start at 7 pm.

Tomorrow and Wednesday, we're at Bruno's Pizzeria for our chess events. We start @ 5:30 PM.

Hopefully we should be able to dry out.

This game between Jammin' Jack and Bobby 'The Boss' is the perfect example of why the game is not over... until it's over.

As I was doing the analysis board, I was saying, "Oh noooo... this is really happening." It's happened to all of us.

After a very nice turnout at Joe's Pizza twenty members, both adults/teens/kids .. and five random people... we start at new week. Picked up a new player visiting from New York. An excellent player rated over 2300. Another one added to the group. We have several. We're not a run of the mill chess group. WE HAVE PLAYERS, who can bring it.

We didn't have Chess in the Park yesterday, because of the early rain. Should be fine for next Sunday.

Tonight, it's back to The Vic for a 'Combo' all-games event. Bring it. Play it. Play what we have. Play what The Vic has. You don't have to wait for us to be there. On other days..Just ask for the game box. Just put everything in away when you're done. Should be a pleasant evening tomorrow.

We start at 7pm. We're there til 11 - 11:30 pm.

Then back to Bruno's Pizzeria on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Starting at 5:30 pm. That's chess only.

Our weekly club match is going to be our hardest yet. A few 2300 Elo players will be joining us. As well as FIDE Master Carsten Hansen. I'm hoping to win one game. Lol

Well, another Friday. This year is flying by. Temperature is slowly becoming hoodie weather. Chess in Morris Park will be going into hibernation soon.

What never sleeps is chess at Joe's Pizza. We had an excellent turnout last week with longtime missing members returning. Add those to the new members, and the regulars, some who have been out a few weeks...Joe's should be packed tonight.

If we get overflow, JR'S Sensory Play Garden will open their doors for the extra players to go there and play. Just remember to take off your shoes. Less dirt into the play area, where their kids spend their time.

We start at 7pm. Last week we had people playing chess until THREE IN THE MORNING.

Join us for some friendly chess. Always a great time. We may need another overflow place eventually, as we continue to grow.

Also, check out this rarity in casual chess. A game with an over 90% accuracy rating ... our members get them in online play. They may have gotten them when playing over the board with other members. But, we FINALLY, after over 400 videos posted...have one recorded as it happened.

Amongst ourselves online, I'm sure a few of us have had at least one 90+% accuracy game. I've posted them from the results of our Fite Nites.

We've probably had them playing against each other at some point in time.

But, I'm pretty sure we have never had one take place, while we were recording a live game. I know I would have definitely praised the player in a post. So. I'm pretty sure we haven't.

We have one now.

Against Deliberate Derrick from Jersey City, who played a hell of a game himself, I had an insane 93.1% accuracy. I've had higher, but never on video. In an upcoming video...I fell to 70%. Smh. But, in that game...I had to play perfect. Derrick played at an 84.8% accuracy.

The ending was very nice. I've lost to something similar. The last time to Jersey City Joe. He's VERY sneaky. 😊

Sunday looks to be be a nice day. No rain in the forecast. We've had a lot lately. We should be good for 'Chess In Morris Park.' That starts at 1pm.

We have members from all over, but we get a ton from Jersey City. Oddly enough, they're all pretty good players. Chess players always seek out other players, especially, if they're good players. Best way to improve your game.

Had a great time last night playing a game with crazy camels last night at our 'Combo' all-games event at The Vic. Not mentioning the name to see if anyone knows what it's called. 🙂 Players get to bet on a camel race. Has anyone else played this game?

A bunch of kids returned to Joe's on Friday, who hadn't been around in a while. A few had gone away for the summer. One had moved back to Bayonne after two years. He had grown, to where he was almost unrecognizable. He was shocked I remembered his name.

A lot of them had begun their growth spurts. The kids are growing. A few week ago, one young man, who hadn't been around for about a month came. His voice had changed. It was almost as deep as mine. It shocked me. Lol

Yup, they're growing. Not all are back. A few of the others told ne they were going on trips before school starts. So, those will be out. Picked up another young boy as a member. Had a recently joined member return from Jersey City. Overall, a nice turnout. A few customers sat and played. The Jersey City player stayed until 3 am. We were there until Joe's closed. Can't get enough of chess. Talked strategies, concepts, ideas. Very knowledgeable player.

Sunday was 'Chess at Morris Park. Weather was nice, but windy as heck. Pieces got blown off the table, so we headed to Joe's again. We met a young woman, who loves the game. She couldn't stay, but will return with her boyfriend. He taught her how to play. She also loves Dominoes. So, we expect to see her at a 'Combo' all-games event.

Speaking of, we're at 'The Vic' tonight for our 'Combo ' event. Bring a game or play what we have, or pick from a huge selection of games that The Vic has.

Always a great time. Plus the food is delish. I think they added a new menu item. Two of our members tried it. They loved it. We start at 7pm.

Weather looks to be perfect for 'Chess In Morris Park.' It'll be between high 70s to low 80s in temperature. Rain a bit in the evening after 5pm.

So, plenty of time to get some sun and some games in.

We start at 1 pm. Lemonade Kids aren't scheduled, unless we get someone wanting lemonade duty. Most are away on vacation before school starts.

This evening we're back at Joe's Pizza. The kids led by our little hostess with the mostest have hosted themselves, along with adult players the last couple of weeks. Our little hostess is away on vacation to Disney with her family. She'll be gone a bit.

She'll miss our first Joe's Pizza tournament, which starts next Friday. But, she'll be back for our second annual Bruno's tournament. Finishing off with our huge 'Bayonne Chess Society & Club Third Anniversary Tournament' in November.

Tournaments are only open to members, who have attended at least three events We like knowing who is playing.... so no walk-ons.

This evening is a normal event. Chess, food, and a great time. One of our members, an excellent player I've named Deliberate Derrick will be joining us. He's been gone for a while...swamped with work. He joined us on Wednesday at Bruno's Pizzeria, but said, he has a bit of time..and will join us at Joe's. Hope he can make a tournament. He's a TOUGH opponent. We've lost a few players, who have moved, but they still play with members online. Derrick hails from Jersey City.

People are slowly returning from vacations, so we're going to pack up our venues again. They'll meet our new members from the last few weeks.
